Joan M. Cahill (Revane), fondly known as “Joy” to her family and friends, age 80, of Marco Island, FL and Wells, ME, formerly of Wilmington and Millbury, died peacefully on January 14, 2016.

Joy was born on October 4, 1935, in Worcester, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late John and Marjorie Revane. Joy was raised and educated in Millbury, MA and a graduate of Millbury High School with the Class of 1952. Joy really enjoyed her high school; she remained very close to her girlfriends throughout the years and they dubbed themselves “the Roaring 50’s girls”. These ladies would meet once a month at each other’s houses, travel, and enjoy each other’s company; they were true friends in every sense of the word.

Joy married the “love of her life” Gilbert Cahill and together they shared many wonderful years until his passing in May of 2009. In the early years of marriage, Joy and Gilbert resided in Millbury where they raised their son David before moving to Wilmington where they lived for nearly 20 years. Joy was a devoted wife and mother; her family was always the center of her life.

Joy enjoyed doing everything with her family and friends; skiing, snowy mountains, traveling, the beach, sunbathing, her summers in Wells, ME and her winters in Marco Island, FL.

Joy was very kind and sweet; she made friends wherever she went, and she will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joy was the beloved wife of the late Gilbert F. Cahill, devoted mother of David G. Cahill and his fiancé Linda A. Lucey of Marco Island, FL and Wells, ME. Cherished daughter of the late John E. and Marjorie (Dennison) Revane, dear sister of John “Jack” Revane of Webster, sister-in-law of John & Barbara Cahill and Paul & Sharon Cahill all of Worcester, Marie & Leo Majeski of Burlington, and Carol Cahill of Indianapolis, IN. Joy is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Tuesday, January 19th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
