==Procedure==

1.) Check if you are eligible to apply.

2.) Download and fill up the citizenship application form and annex, for yourself and your spouse (if any). Affix one recent passport-sized colour photograph of the applicant to the completed citizenship application form. The Citizenship application form is also obtainable at the Citizen Services Centre.

3.) Apply at the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority

Submit the completed citizenship application form with all supporting documents to Counter 7 or 8 of the Citizen Services Centre located on the 6th floor of ICA Building. As much as possible try to avoid the peak periods.

4.) Interview with the ICA

The interview officer will compare the documents that you have submitted against your application form. You will be asked to make a declaration before the interviewing officer, stating that all information provided in your application is true and correct.

If you are applying as a spouse of a Singapore citizen, your spouse (the sponsor) must also be present during the interview.

The child must be present at least once during the interview stage or collection of citizenship certificate at the ICA or Embassy / High Commission of Singapore.

5.) You will be notified of the outcome of your Singapore citizenship application by mail. The notification will indicate the appointment date for you to register for Singapore citizenship at the ICA.

You will also be advised to renounce your foreign citizenship at the relevant embassy or High Commission in Singapore.

6.) Visit the relevant embassy or High Commission in Singapore with your passport. You will be issued with letters stating the renunciation of your citizenship, and the surrender of your passport.

Note: This step is not compulsory for applicants below age 21 and whose nationality is “stateless”.

7.) Complete Citizenship Registration Formalities.

Prepare all necessary documents. On the day of your appointment, proceed to Citizen Services Centre. Obtain a queue number to complete the registration of your citizenship and apply for your identity card and Singapore passport.

After paying the fees, you will take the “Oath of Renunciation, Allegiance and Loyalty” before the Commissioner of Oaths.

Take note of the operating hours of the Citizen Services Centre:

Mon–Fri: 8.00 am–4.30 pm

No citizenship registration on Saturday

Closed on Sunday and public holidays

8.) You will be required to attend a citizenship ceremony at a later date. (applicants below 6 years of age are exempted from the ceremony.) A citizenship folder comprising your citizenship certificate and identity card will be presented to you at the citizenship ceremony.
