A driver's license is a legal document issued by the state. It expresses a persons capability to operate a motorized vehicle, such as a motorcycle, car, truck or a bus, on a public roadway. Laws relating to the issuance of licenses vary between jurisdictions.

Following are procedures on how to obtain Category D (Large Bus) driving license.

==Eligibility==

Driving licenses are issued to individuals who normally resides in Denmark (that is for at least 185 days in each calendar year, due to personal or professional ties), or persons who can provide proof of having lived in Denmark for at least 6 months as a student.

Any person whose license is restricted, suspended or revoked in another EU or EEA country may not be able to obtain a driver's license.

Category D and D / E driving licenses are issued to individuals aged 24.

Category D licenses may also be issued to those aged 21 if:

*Acquisition of the license is part of the qualification program following the rules and regulations on qualification requirements for certain drivers of vehicles on the road. Until the holder reach the age of 24, the license will only entitle its holder to drive vehicles in accordance with the executive order on qualification requirements for certain drivers of vehicles on the road. or

*The applicant is employed, enlisted or a volunteer in defense, the Home Guard, the national emergency services or the police. Until the holder reaches the age of 24, the license only entitles its holder permission to drive vehicles while fulfilling their duties. or

*The applicant is a mechanic or the like, or the license is intended for training as a mechanic or the like. Until the age of 24, the license only entitled to drive vehicles checked in for repair or maintenance.

Category D / E licenses may also be issued from the age of 21 years if:

*Acquisition of the license is part of the qualification program following the rules and regulations on qualification requirements for certain drivers of vehicles on the road. Until the holder reach the age of 24, the license will only entitle its holder to drive vehicles in accordance with the executive order on qualification requirements for certain drivers of vehicles on the road. or

*The applicant is employed, enlisted or a volunteer in defense, the Home Guard, the national emergency services or the police. Until the holder reaches the age of 24, the license only entitles its holder permission to drive vehicles while fulfilling their duties.

Category D licenses can only be issued to drivers who have acquired a category B license. While category D / E license shall only be issued to those who possess a category D driving license.

==Instructions==

Driving licenses in Denmark enables its holder to operate several vehicles belonging to different categories, one of them is a Category D driving license for large buses which entitles its holder to drive:

*Passenger cars designed to carry more than eight passengers in addition to the driver (large bus).

*Combination consisting of a large bus and a trailer with a gross vehicle weight not exceeding 750 kg.

Licenses for commercial passenger category B, D1 and / or D applies also for commercial passenger vehicles covered by § 13 paragraphs 1 and 2 (rule for category C1 license) or § 14 paragraphs 1 and 2 (rule for category C license), where the owner has obtained a driving license for categories C1 or Category C.

Driving Licenses for commercial passenger category D shall also apply to commercial passenger vehicles under category D1.
