| statement          = Wikimedia Philippines has matured and improved a lot from being the fledgling organization that was incorporated four years ago (2010). For the past four years, we have maintained a good record of governance and management, which has earned us a good reputation from among the other Wikimedia chapters in the world. This is made possible thanks to the help and dedication of those who have helped us realize our vision of establishing the chapter. Some of those who have helped us have come and go for various reasons, and we've always appreciated their part. However, our work is far from complete--there is only so much that we as unpaid volunteers can do---and I want to help complete the many tasks that wait us.

The past year also saw WMPH forging partnerships with various institutional partners, in an unprecedented level that we have never experienced in previous years. Although we have made some concrete projects or commitments with these institutions, these partnerships are still at their infancy; the more that we talk to our partners, the more we discover many other possible ways in which they can help WMPH realize its mission and vision, and at the same time the more ways these partners can offer means to help promote WMPH, its works and its causes. I would want to continue exploring more of these partnership opportunities and see through the implementation of joint projects with them.

The previous year also made me realize that an important direction that we should go is beyond introducing Wikipedia in various places in the country. Wikipedia as a brand name or as a website is already well-known in most parts of the world, including the Philippines. At present, instead of focusing on projects that help improve the presence of Wikipedia, the Wikimedia Foundation is engaged in various projects to improve user engagement (e.g. VisualEditor for better editing, Parsoid for faster response time) and to reach out to users who want to do more than just read or use Wikipedia as a reference but add to it (e.g. Wikipedia in Education, Wikipedia in Africa). And I think that while the recent major projects that WMPH has done in the past years (WLM-PH, Cultural Heritage Mapping Project) are one step towards that direction (although leaning on media contributions), there are other possible ways in which WMPH can help bring Wikipedia to the Filipinos who are yearning to help make it a better free encyclopedia, and in the local languages in particular.  To this end, I will strive to endorse and work on projects that will encourage people to contribute to Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects, and specifically in improving the quality of the Philippine-language Wikipedias. In this way, more than focusing on the promotion of free, open-content reference materials, we would also achieve the mission of ''creating'' content.
