Deleting a Facebook page is fairly simple, but you must be aware that any page or account deleted from Facebook cannot be retrieved later on. There are, however, other options you can take advantage of if you want to temporarily remove a page from the website. Keep reading to learn more about how to permanently and temporarily delete a Facebook page.
Steps
Delete Your Fan Page[1]
Click on "Edit Page." The "Edit Page" button appears near the top right corner of the fan page, inside your "Admin Panel."
You should notice the downward arrow next to the "Edit Page" label. This indicates that a drop-down menu will appear when you click on the button.
The "Edit Page" button is the left-most button along the top of your Admin Panel. It should be located near "Build Audience" and "Help."
Note that this can only be done if you are one of the page's administrators.
Go to "Manage Permissions." This option should be the second one from the top of the “Edit Page” drop-down menu. Click on the text to select it and open the Permissions page.
Choose "Delete [Page]." Click on this option to permanently delete your fan page.
Note that the name of your page will appear after the word “Delete,” replacing the bracketed text.
This action will permanently delete your page. If you only want to make the page inaccessible temporarily, you should un-publish the page, instead.
Un-publish Your Fan Page [2]
Click on "Edit Page." Look near the upper right corner of your fan page for the "Edit Page" button.
The "Edit Page" button is found within the "Admin Panel" at the top of your screen. It will only appear if you have administrative access to the fan page.
Along with the words "Edit Page," a downward pointing arrow should appear on the button, indicating that a drop-down menu will appear when you click on it.
Choose "Manage Permissions." The second option from the top of the drop-down menu should say "Manage Permissions." Clicking on it will open the Permissions page.
Check off "Un-publish Page." Select the tick-box next to this option to select it.
Un-publishing your fan page will temporarily remove it, making it impossible for anyone without administrative permissions to view or access the page.
While your page remains unpublished, a dialog box will remain at the top of the fan page to indicate that it is not currently visible to non-admins. You can re-publish your page by returning to the Permissions page, but you can also re-publish it by clicking on the "Publish Your Page" link at the top of the Admin panel.
Select "Save Changes." Clicking on “Save Changes” while the “Un-publish Page” box is checked will remove your page from public view and return you to the main screen of your fan page.
Delete Your Account
Download you information, if desired.[3] Deleting your account is a permanent action and will result in the loss of all your data. It is recommended that you download a copy of your information before you delete your page.
Click on the gear symbol in the upper right of any page. This will open the gear menu. From there, select "Account Settings" to open your Settings page.
There are several options listed in the left-hand column of the page. Select "General," located near the top.
At the bottom of your "General Account Settings" page is a line of small text stating "Download a copy of your Facebook data." Click on the words "Download a copy."
Click on "Start My Archive" to begin your download.
Downloading your data will save information about posts you have shared, messages, photographs, and other basic profile information.
Fill out the deletion form. This form can be found at: http://www.facebook.com/help/delete_account.
You will be asked to confirm your password. Facebook will also ask, several times, if you are certain that you wish to delete your page.
Note that you will need to be signed in before deleting your page.
You may be asked other information on the deletion form, including your reasons for wanting to delete your page. After you have filled out the form completely, click on the submission button at the bottom of the page to submit it.
After submitting your form, Facebook will review your request to verify its authenticity. Once Facebook has finished, the website will remove your profile permanently.
You will not be able to reactivate your account.
Deactivate Your Account [4]
Go to your account menu. Your account menu can be accessed by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right corner of any Facebook page. Clicking on the gear will open a drop-down menu.
Deactivating your account will temporarily remove it from view. Your information will not appear and no one will be able to search for your profile. If you decide to return to Facebook, you can reactivate your account at any time. All of your settings, friends, and information will return as it was before.
Choose "Account Settings." Click on this option from the drop-down menu to select it and go to your settings page.
This option is usually the second one on the drop-down menu, but there may be additional options above it if you have administrative access to one or more fan pages.
Select "Security." Click on the word “Security,” located in the left-hand column of your Account Settings page. Doing so will open your Security Settings.
“Security” is the second option in this column. The label is accompanied by the graphic of a shield.
Click on "Deactivate your account." At the bottom of the Security Settings page is a line reading “Deactivate your account.” Click on this to complete the process.
As soon as you deactivate your account, your profile will be removed from the website. You will need to intentionally reactivate it before it will appear again.
Get a Fake Page Deleted [5][6]
Go to the gear menu for that page. You should notice a gear icon near the upper right corner of any fan page, timeline, or group page. Click on this gear to open a drop-down menu.
Note that these steps only provide information on how to report a fake account. After sending in your report, Facebook will review your deletion request. If it can verify the legitimacy of your claim, the account, page, or group will be removed from the website.
Facebook does not allow accounts that pretend to be someone else, claim another person's photos as their own, list a fake name, or do not represent a real person.
Facebook does not allow fan pages or groups that promote illegal activity.
You will not be able to have a timeline or page removed simply because you do not like it. Your request must have some objective basis.
Choose the "Report" option. This option appears near the bottom of the gear drop-down menu, but its specific label will vary depending on the type of content you want to report.
Look for the words “Report/Block” when reporting a false timeline.
If reporting a fan page, choose “Report Page.” Similarly, choose “Report Group” for a group.
Choose "Submit a Report." After selecting the “report” option, you will need to confirm your decision to report a page by selecting the words “Submit a Report” from the page that pops up.
Select the most appropriate option to describe your reasoning. When you report a page or timeline, you will be required to indicate why you want Facebook to remove the page from the website. There are preset options for you to choose from.
The most common reports are those of false accounts. To report a false account, choose "This person is impersonating someone."[7][8] From there, you can select “Someone I know” to indicate that your friend is being impersonated. Type in the name of your friend when asked. You can also report when someone is impersonating you or someone famous.
Click "Continue." This will take you to a page where you can complete your report.
Complete the report. Follow the on-screen instructions, providing as much detail in answer to all questions Facebook asks. Only by providing adequate detail will you be able to convince Facebook to delete the page.
