Daggertooth reminisces on the Called's origins from back at MTG News around the turn of the century: "At first there was just one clan... the Called, based on the idea of rumor gathering and discussion. I am unsure if there were any clans before vb bulletin, though I was around at that time. We were huge too, with no limits and no clear understanding of what a clan would be. There was no clan section at that time and there was strong debate about the merit of creating a clan section."

I did not consider the numbers interested in clans sufficient enough and I figured that the idea would die relatively quickly. As such I campaigned against it...
