Destiny, the upcoming shooter from developer Bungie, began its life as a third-person only title, instaed of the first-person shooter we have seen today. During a recent video interview with GameInformer, Bungie’s Ryan Ellis revealed the shift in perspective for the upcoming game. He said:
We actually were at one point third-person only. We wanted to make a kick-ass action game, and we decided first-person was the right place to do that. Destiny is now a first-person shooter, and unlike The Elder Scrolls games, for example, doesn’t let you shift back and forth at will. There will still be opportunities to see characters in third-person, though.
There is some third-person elements in the game still. That’s important for gameplay, and to show off your cool moves and the cool armour you get.
Destiny is an online shared-world shooter coming to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in Fall of 2014. This is Bungie’s first project since leaving Microsoft and the Halo franchise. Players will experience a combined world filled with sci-fi and fantasy.
Bungie intends to hold a beta period for the game sometime next summer, this will be exclusive to the PS3 and PS4. This is Sony’s way of counteracting Microsoft’s deal with EA and Titanfall, and we couldn’t be happier with it.
