Neighborly disputes are nothing new. These arguments are often started over unkempt lawns or excessive noise, but they don’t typically result in retaliation on this level. A Rhode Island man was recently arrested for launching corncobs at his neighbor’s home with a homemade potato gun.

Yes, you read the correctly. 50-year-old Jeffrey Osella was arrested for disorderly conduct and firing in a compact area after deciding pummeling his neighbor’s house with corn was a smart idea.

Potato guns are no joke. Made of PVC pipe, they use air pressure or flammable gas to propel items at high speeds. They can cause serious bodily damage if aimed at a person. In fact, one of the flying corncobs almost hit Osella’s daughter while she was walking home.

Osella and his neighbor have been feuding on and off for the last 13 years. The neighbor currently has his house up for sale (wonder why). The corncob assault took place after a yelling match between the neighbors.

“Police reported that they went to Osella’s home, and that he came to the door shirtless with multiple corn kernels stuck to his chest,” the Westerly Sun reports. Unsurprisingly, he was also allegedly intoxicated at the time.

We can’t make this stuff up, folks!
