My “Chocolate Illusion” cake in modeling chocolate. Cake stand by Batter Up Cake Co

If you are interested in reading the whole article, head on over to Cake Masters and check it out! In the interview, I tell the story of my worst cake disaster EVER and how I had to scrub a LOT of pots and pans before I was allowed to make my first wedding cake. Yep, I started out in the bakery industry as a grunt/dishwasher, emptying the grease trap, mopping the floors, and scrubbing the cake pans and Hobart attachments. It was about as un-glamorous as a pig cake in a puddle of chocolate!

By the way, the design that is wrapped around this cake is two-dimensional. It’s flat, thinly rolled modeling chocolate, cut and arranged just so to make an optical illusion. Did it fool your eyes? Make ya look twice? I hope so because that’s what I was going for.
