It’s unscientific and completely unreliable, but in keeping with the Groundhog’s Day tradition everyone waited with bated breath to see if one groundhog saw its shadow.

In Polk County, Paula made her annual prediction on Sunday morning at the High Life Lounge’s 10th anniversary grand opening celebration.  It’s a grand opening that happens every year, taking its lead from the classic comedy, Groundhog’s Day.

On Sunday, Paula’s prediction left everyone smiling.

“The prediction was no shadow which means we’ve only got six more weeks left of this winter.  That’ll be great to get rid of,” said Jeff Bruning.

“She also predicted the Broncos are going to win the Super Bowl,” Bruning said.

Festivities at the High Life Lounge began Sunday morning at 8 a.m. and celebrations will continue throughout the day.

But out in Pennsylvania, Punxsutawney Phil had a different prediction about winter.

Phil did see his shadow this morning when he took a peek outside in Punxsutawney, Penn.  Phil has been a part of Groundhog Day predictions since 1886 and every year, the crowd at Gobblers Knob grows.
