Dixon Woodward Named Regional President, Coastal South Carolina

United Community Bank has significantly expanded their South Carolina operations with the recent opening of an office in Charleston, S.C. Dixon Woodward, a veteran Coastal banker, will manage all bank functions in the area as Regional President-Coastal South Carolina. United Community Bank, based in Blairsville, Ga., has steadily increased its presence in South Carolina this year, having closed a merger with The Palmetto Bank in the Upstate earlier in 2015.

Woodward has more than 16 years of banking experience and joins United Community Bank from TD Bank, where he served as Market President – Coastal Carolinas since 2011. Woodward joined TD Bank after its merger with Carolina First Bank, and spent the earlier part of his career working for Carolina First in different positions across South Carolina, including executive vice president, Market President –South Coast. He was recognized by the Charleston Regional Business Journal as one of “40 Under 40” in 2013.

In addition to his professional experience, Woodward is extremely active in the Charleston community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Charleston Regional Development Alliance, the Greenheart Foundation, the College of Charleston Foundation and the South Carolina Aquarium.  He has also previously been involved with the American Red Cross Clara Barton Society, American Heart Association Heart Ball, Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and South Carolina Young Bankers Association.

Woodward and his team currently occupy temporary office space but will be moving to a permanent location in 2016. Woodward lives in Charleston with his wife Erica and two young children. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, the South Carolina Bankers School and the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking.
