MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Parents, don’t have your children lose hours of work on the first few days of the new school year!
Children entering 6th grade are required to have a current blue card with evidence of an updated tetanus, diptheria, and acellular pertussis booster (TDaP.) The Madison County Health Department will be going to each public elementary school in the county, starting Tuesday, April 1st, to provide TdaP shots to all 5th graders, 10 years and older.
Children receiving the TDaP shot in school will have their shot records updated by the Health Department and new Blue Cards will be sent to the child’s school before the end of the current school year.
State law requires all children over 10, entering the 6th grade, have an updated tetanus booster and an updated Blue Card. Forms for this immunization were sent home to the parents and should be returned to the child’s teacher before the immunization date.
