TRIVIA ANSWER: In 1980, Ted Turner offers legendary CBS TV news anchor Douglas Edwards the anchor position on his new CNN 24 hour television news network but CBS refuses to release Douglas from his contract. On that day, CBS issues Douglas Edwards a new contract. The Cable News Network (CNN) founded in 1980 by Ted Turner is the first channel to offer 24-hour television news coverage launches at 5:00 pm ET on June 1, 1980. After an introduction by Ted Turner, husband and wife team of David Walker and Lois Hart anchor CNN’s first newscast.

JAY WEAVER [KCUL-1540/KBUY-1540/KPCN-730] (DFW-Hurst, TX) Subject: Skeeter Gordon. Jim, you are full of questions, but I noticed Lacy has none!! Let’s see…all I know about Skeeter is that he was at KNOW–1490 and KILT–610 before 1967. He came to KBUY–1540 in 1967 and stayed for several months and then headed to KFJZ–1270 at the end 1967. I thought he had stayed at KBUY–1540 through 1967, but he left in late 1967. He stayed at KFJZ–1270 and after that moved over to KXOL–1360. He may have been at KLIF–1190 before he went to KXOL–1360, but I think it was the other way around. I’m typing this from memory, I think I’m good on the dates. Thanks, Jim and Lacy, Jay Weaver

FRED ALLEN (May 31, 1894 to March 17, 1956) I always have trouble remembering three things: faces, names, and – I can’t remember what the third thing is.
