I am on a personal quest to dine at every restaurant that Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park offers. I was invited by friends, Paula and Claudia, to join them for dinner at Tokyo Dining, a Japanese restaurant in Epcot’s World Showcase that I had not yet tried. Score one for me, I love trying new places!
Two Restaurants Under One Roof
We arrived at the park and made our way to Japan’s pavilion, at the back of the World Showcase. The Mitsukoshi Department Store building, that I had seen countless times, not only houses Tokyo Dining on the second floor, but also a hibachi style steakhouse restaurant, Teppan Edo. We scored a nice view of the sleek, on-stage sushi kitchen. Adorable uniformed chefs rolled sushi as fast and meticulous as they could in front of us. 
Starting Off Deliciously
The three of us quickly picked out our meals and placed our orders. We started with Tokyo Dining’s Vegetable Miso Soup and Sesame & Chili Edamame. I could have eaten the entire bowl of the Edamame; it was great. The soup was velvety in texture and very flavorful. It contained daikon, which I have not ever seen in soup, and it tasted fabulous! We appreciated that several of the restaurant’s staff came by to check on us throughout the meal.
So Many Delicious Choices…
Tokyo Dining has an extensive menu full of grilled meats, raw fish, and tempura combinations. Our selections were the Crab & Shrimp Tempura, Assorted Seasonal Vegetable Tempura, and Spicy Crunchy Roll. The portions were huge and our plates were picture perfect, not that we would expect anything less from a Disney eatery.
My tempura (pronounced tem-poor-ah) was super light and the vegetables were well-seasoned. The cheese fondue sauce was the perfect accompaniment for the dish. Paula’s Spicy Crunchy Roll, a mix of tuna and salmon, was pure art. The Green Tea Mousse Cake caught my eye, thought I was too full for dessert. 
Another Epcot Fine Dining Experience
My experience at Tokyo Dining was great! I definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Epcot. It has a welcoming and chic atmosphere with a stellar staff, serving quality ingredients and divine sushi. Next time you are at Epcot, wander up those stairs and check Tokyo Dining out. Reserve a window seat for a spectacular view of the Illuminations Fireworks.
