Last January 3, 2016, Feng Shui Empress Marites Allen held her annual convention at the Marco Polo Hotel to share the auspicious dates and charms that could help ward off the bad and negative vibes and further improve ones’ fortune.
The convention marks the 11th year since it was first held in 2005. Each participant received a convention brochure containing the overall forecasts and valuable suggestions on how to make the new lunar new year more auspicious.
The convention likewise marked another milestone, this time for Ms Allen’s Frigga Brand which launched its newest collaboration with one of the country’s top designers Frederick Peralta.
Frederick Peralta is a perfect choice as FRIGGA’s new fashion partner. He brings into the partnership over three decades of design experience highlighted by international recognition. He is the first Filipino to win the prestigious Grand Prix at the Internationale Creatures de Jeunes de Mode (Young International Designers Competition) held in Paris in 1994. He is also the Philippine representative in the UNESCO-funded book, “High Fashion Around the World.” Peralta describes his style as somewhere between minimalist and exuberance. The merging of this wide range and his distinctive style with the luck-enhancing qualities of the FRIGGA brand presents exciting and dynamic possibilities for the special niche of fashionistas who are feng shui aficionados at the same time.
The 30-piece collection of ladies wear styled using five auspicious prints. “These prints carry the unique DNA that is the hallmark of FRIGGA. You won’t see them anywhere because they have been exclusively made for FRIGGA.” Ms. Allen
“It is such an honor to be working with a very talented and passionate fashion designer like Frederick Peralta who has made outstanding contributions to the fashion industry. He has effectively captured the feel and the energy of the FRIGGA brand and introduced them into these new designs.” Marites couldn’t hide her excitement in sharing their latest creations with FRIGGA customers here and abroad.
The event also took on a different path from past conventions where forecasts for each Chinese zodiac sign were presented. This time, Allen provided participant with personal destiny readings based on their birth details. Thus, prospective attendees are advised to register early and provide information on their date and hour of birth, to facilitate the preparation of the personalized charts.
“Although each zodiac animal sign provides certain luck indications for the year, I wish to stress that no two individuals, even with same date of birth, may share the same destiny,” shared Allen. “The reason is that the year, date and the hour of birth have very specific influences on someone’s life as days and hours are governed by different feng shui elements.”
The monkey is known for being playful wily and quick witted, and these traits usually takes those around it by surprise.
Monkey born people stand out for their intelligence and creativity in working out difficult problems for themselves and others. As such we may expect the characteristic energy of this animal sign to manifest in volatile and exciting changes ahead.

In the world of Entertainment, Lord of The Rings won numerous awards while Spiderman 2 and Million Dollar Baby were among the biggest movies of the year; Lost” created by J.J. Abrams and starring Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly debuted while the sitcom Friends and Frasier marked their final seasons, then there was Nipplegate or when Janet Jackson’s breast got exposed during the half-time show of Super Bowl XXXVIII.
In technology, Google introduced Gmail; but perhaps the most notable event of the year was the launch of one site called Facebook which Mark Zuckerberg created from his Harvard dormitory room.

Allen said the year 2016 will be a year when most people will actively pursue power, wealth or financial security, expect heated arguments and misunderstandings but people will be willing to compromise.
