The confusion whether to bring notes or not revealed the true characters of each candidate. It was definitely an eye-opener. After the second debate in Cebu, be it the behind-the-scene-footage or the debate itself, had definitely helped the Filipino people decide who to vote for this coming 2016 elections.
Cebu debate attendees revealed who they want to vote for president.
In addition, one of the comments mentioned during the debate was the Yolanda incident.
Yes, even after 2013, we are still puzzled about what really happened after the super typhoon Yolanda hit Tacloban.
As fate would have it, a Canada-based Filipina Nurse revealed and shared her experience when she volunteered to help the Yolanda victims. On her post, she described how Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and former DILG secretary Mar Roxas provided leadership and managed the said crisis.

As mentioned in her story, when they were asked who would want to volunteer to help the victims in Tacloban, she presented herself, even though she was clueless on the severity of the incident.
Nagtatanong sila kung sino willing sumama sa Tacloban as volunteers pra tumulong sa mga Yolanda Victims, di ako nakapagbukas ng tv kaya di ko alam kung gaano ka kalaki pinsala ng bagyo. Nagvolunteer ako dahil ilang taon na rin akong di nakauwi ng Pilipinas.
However, she felt embarrassed and ashamed when their Head of Board of Trustees of the Hospital told her to make sure that nobody touches the goods and that Philippine Government cannot be trusted.
Here are the exact words according to the Filipina nurse:
” You send representatives and volunteers to Tacloban and make sure that nobody touches the goods. Philippine Government cannot be trusted. Hand it personally to the victims!”
Nevertheless, she volunteered and arrived in Tacloban November 10. She described the scenario similar to the movie Resident evil: it was chaotic, full of destroyed houses, lifeless bodies lying everywhere, and more.
Magulong magulo ang lugar, di kami agad makapasok. Kung napanood nyo Resident Evil prang ganun ang environment doon, my mga usok, mga wasak na bahay, sirang building at tindahan sa paligid, patay na nagkakalat kung saan2x, my umiiyak, sumisigaw, di talaga namin alam kung ano uunahin namin nagmask na kami dahil sa sobrang baho, marahil nangangamoy na ang mga patay sa paligid.
Moreover, she also exposed that there were Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) workers who apparently questioned and inspected their relief goods which, according to the Filipina nurse, were enough for one week. In addition, the DSWD workers allegedly changed the branded medicines to generic ones.
When the Canada team said they will call the head of DART or Disaster Assistance Response Team, the DSWD stepped back and let them freely help the victims.
Then her #DuterteStory begins. She said:
Tapos may isang tao na kumuha ng atensyun naming lahat kasi medyo my edad na sya, pero maliksi pa rin gumalaw, kumakarga ng mga batang umiiyak, nag eestima sa mga matatandang inuubo dahil sa ginaw, tumutulong sa mga nag aasikaso ng mga patay sa kalsada, hanggang sa pinagpahinga sya ng kasama nyang doctor dahil nalipasan na pala ng gutom.
Translation:
(There was one person who caught our attention. He looked old but can still move around carrying kids who were crying; estimating the old victims who caught coug because of the cold weather; collating the dead bodies in the streets; until the doctor told the old guy to rest because he already passed his hunger.)
Amazed with what they saw, her Canadian Team Leader made a comment:
“That guy should run in politics, not like that guy in blue (Mar Roxas) who stayed in his tent and just give orders i can’t believe your President trusted him to be the Head of the Response Team he just sit there, eat his delicious meal, go out and act helpful whenever there is media and camera, i think hes planning to run in a higher position, but i like that old guy, hes really something, he’ll make a good politician”
Then, a doctor heard it and said: “Excuse me po, Nurse actually talagang pulitiko po sya, Sya po si Mayor Rodrigo Duterte ng Davao City.”

Sa sobrang busy po ng work at minsan pagod na rin wala na po akong oras para manood ng balita lalo na month of November medyo maraming mga pasyente ang nag rerequest ng private nurse pra sa kanilang bakasyun kaya po nagkakaroon ng shortage sa manpower sa hospital. November 9, 2013 pagdating ko pa lng may announcement ang head nurse. Nagtatanong sila kung sino willing sumama sa Tacloban as volunteers pra tumulong sa mga Yolanda Victims, di ako nakapagbukas ng tv kaya di ko alam kung gaano ka kalaki pinsala ng bagyo. Nagvolunteer ako dahil ilang taon na rin akong di nakauwi ng Pilipinas. Sa totoo lng po medyo nakakahiya man pero sabi talaga ng Head ng Board of Trustees ng Hospital siguraduhin na kami magdadala ng tulong, donations at relief goods dahil daw po government ng Pilipinas at di mapagkakatiwalaan. Hand it personally to the victims!” Ouch medyo awkward Pinoy po ako Madame! Lol…Gabi ng Nov 9 kami lumipad via Boeing C17 Globemaster yun po ang aircraft na ginagamit sa Canada for relief operations. Nakakatuwa kasi halos puro pinoy din ang mga volunteers na galing sa ibang mga hospital. Halos isang araw din ang byahe Nov 10 ng gabi kmi lumapag ng Tacloban. Magulong magulo ang lugar, di kami agad makapasok. Nag set up kami ng tent, paunti unti yung mga lalakeng volunteers sila naglakas loob na pumasok pra magbigay ng mga pagkain, yung nkakainis lang kasi po may mga kawani ng DSWD na hinaharang yung mga volunteers na gustong pumasok kasi po yung package ng relief goods namin ay kumpleto na per pack makakasurvive na sila dpat for a week pero ginagawa nila iniinspect nila tapos sinasabi na for 3days lang ang ibigay kasi hihingi at hihingi daw yun uli. Yung mga branded na gamot na dala namin gusto pa sana nilang palitan ng local brand, talagang di ako mkapaniwala na ganun na ang sitwasyun nakuha pa nilang unahin ang pansariling interes. Sa gitna ng mga nagugutom, nag iiyakan, mga bangkay, at mga taong naghahanap ng kani kanilang mga pamilyang nawawala! Talagang napipikon na kami dahil naawa na kami sa mga survivors lalo na sa mga bata. Nagagalit na rin ang Canadian na team leader ng grupo namin kasi sabi nya walang instructions galing sa Canadian Government na irerepack ang mga nakaready na package, after a while may dumating na babae nagpakilala siya na siya ang incharge at pumayag sya na ipamigay na ng mga kasama namin ang goods at mga gamot. Siguro na alarma dahil sabi ng Team Leader namin na itatawag nya sa DART Head o Disaster Assistance Response Team. So yun na nag umpisa na kaming magtrabaho sobrang nakakapagod pero iba ang pakiramdam na nakakatulong ka sa kapwa Pilipino. Nov 11, may ilang grupo na nakikita namin na tumutulong sa mga batang umiiyak kasi hinahanap nila mga magulang nila, ilan sa kanila gutom, meron ding medical team na tumutulong samin pra gumamot sa mga nasugatan. Tapos may isang tao na kumuha ng atensyun naming lahat kasi medyo my edad na sya, pero maliksi pa rin gumalaw, kumakarga ng mga batang umiiyak, nag eestima sa mga matatandang inuubo dahil sa ginaw, tumutulong sa mga nag aasikaso ng mga patay sa kalsada, hanggang sa pinagpahinga sya ng kasama nyang doctor dahil nalipasan na pala ng gutom. Ah! Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, pangalang nakaukit na sa aking isip. From that time, di na nawala sa isip ko ang pangalan nya nakita ko pa na kahit pagod sya nakuha pa nyang ngumiti ng my lumapit sa kanyang isang bata na my dalang tinapay. Di talaga sya kagaya ng ibang pulitiko who loves to be interviewed and featured. Si Mayor Duterte talagang pinangatawanan nya ang tunay na kahulugan ng Public Servant. After one week na pag volunteer umuwi na kami ng Canada di na ako nkauwi sa probinsya namin but its worth it sarap talaga ng feeling ng nakatulong kahit wala kaming sweldo. Pagbalik ko ng Canada binigyan kami ng 3days pra makapagpahinga, nag research ako tungkol kay Mayor Duterte at lalo akong naimpress sa mga achievements nya at mga nagawa nya sa Davao. Isa ako sa mga nagnais na sana ay tumakbo siya bilang Presidente sinundan ko na balita tungkol sa kanya mabuti o masama mang balita. Natuwa talaga ako ng nakumbinsi syang tumakbo sa pagka Pangulo. Isa rin ako sa nagkakampanya sa kanya dito sa Canada. Di nga lang po bulgaran kasi po mga pulitiko din Pamilya ko sa Probinsya namin mula pa sa mga lolo at lola ko at ngayon ang nakaupong mayor ay pinsang buo ko, di ko pwedeng hayagang mangampanya dahil nasa Liberal ang Pinsan ko pero sinasabi ko po sa inyo sa lahat ng kakilala ko dito sa Canada, pti sa mga pamilya nila talagang kinakampanya ko c mayor at isa ako sa mga punong abala sa pag organisa ng aming paglilibut dito kung walang pasok pra pa rin mangampanya. Hangad ko po na manalo ang isang tulad ni Mayor Duterte. Sabi nga ng Team Leader namin “if He (Mayor Duterte) will lead your country, it will be progressive and definitely will be one of the greatest and most respected country because of his big heart for the poor and needy”. Sana po ay bigyan ninyo ng pagkakataon si Mayor na pagsilbihan kayo, sa lahat ng my duda magsaliksik kayo, updated na ngayon kahit saan mag internet, wag maniwala sa mga nakikita sa tv at nababasa sa mga dyaryo. Dahil si Mayor Duterte ang klase ng tao na ayaw isapubliko ang kanyang mga mabubuting nagagawa sa bayan. Kudos to you, Mayor. May God continue to bless you with good health so you can help and serve more People. Whatever the result maybe, whatever the outcome of the election, i will always be grateful that once in my life i had extend my hands to helped my fellow Filipinos and had experienced serving my country with the Legend, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
Honestly, when I was writing this, I couldn’t contain my sadness. Why can’t we practice resilience, honesty, and solidarity?
