AirAsia recently launched promo fares for as low as P1,599 as part of the new tourism campaign, with the intent to make Bohol as an international tourist destination. AirAsia, together with the Provincial Government of Bohol, USAID Philippines, Department of Tourism and NEDA, signed a partnership agreement to promote Bohol to travelers in the Philippines, ASEAN region, and in greater Asia.
This is made possible with the new Panglao International Airport, which is expected to open next year, as an international gateway for direct international flights.
“Behold Bohol” is a tourism campaign that cherishes not only the preservation of its nature, culture, and historical heritage, but also its history, values, and identity. This campaign is a result of the recovery that took place from the devastation from the 2013 earthquake.
Mr. Christopher Foley, USAID Deputy Mission Director, said that with the strong cooperation from local communities and private stakeholders in Bohol, the USAID-COMPETE Project helped in bringing Bohol back to its feet and boosted its tourism further with new tourism packages.
Hon. Edgar M. Chatto, governor of the province of Bohol, said that this was a product of genuine partnership, kind hearts, and helpful hands. “What we want to see is a province that can contribute more to national growth and development, meaning with all of our efforts put together, we can expect a province that will truly be something, someplace in the future and in the present, that everyone would behold,” he added.
Philippines AirAsia CEO Capt. Dexter Comendador also added that it would be exciting to see Bohol connect to giant markets in Asia, not only for tourism but to engage and promote stronger social and economic ties.
Bohol offers various attractions where you can learn its culture and history. You can wander at Bohol’s nature and wildlife as you visit the Chocolate Hills, which was declared a National Geologic monument. You can ride the floating restaurant, Loboc River Cruise, where you’ll glide along the waters of palm-fringed banks and villages, full of its local culture. Enjoy the Abatan River Community Life Tour, where you can see the majestic Kawasan Falls and experience Firefly-watching. And if you’re looking for an adventure, you can try visiting Danao Adventure Park, which has a variety of activities, such as rappelling, trekking, wall climbing and many more.
Of course, those are only a taste of what Bohol can give you.
To commemorate the partnership, AirAsia now offers promo fares as low as P1,599 starting March 1 for a travel period between July 1 up to November 30, 2017.
