Yes, I may have stolen that title from a crazy Netflix show that my husband and I totally devoured the week before Halloween.

Anyway, when it comes down to it, pregnancy is kind of like an alien invasion, isn’t it? Maybe it’s because there is something alive that is growing in your belly. That thought alone seems like it is odd enough. In addition, here are some stranger things to expect in your third trimester:

1. You experience violent movement in your abdomen (comparatively speaking). In the second trimester, it almost feels like a delightful little butterfly flapping its wings, or something like that. Now instead, your stomach just jerks this way and that. The kick that used to be a flutter now packs an extra punch, and you can actually watch the movement happening now.

2. Exhaustion arrives at 7:30pm, and you’re wide awake at 1:30am. Things might be so different if you didn’t have to face those early morning trips to the bathroom!

3. You find yourself crying (or sobbing) due to very odd things. For example, yummy food, relief of some kind of obligation, or merely the fact that you’ve just been pregnant way too long.

4. You also get some serious primal instincts. All of a sudden, it’s time to eat (and eat and eat). And then it’s nap time. While those things are happening, absolutely nothing better get in the way.

5. Dreams are very confusing and seem very real. Like, “let me call my husband and make sure he’s not actually leaving for a business trip today,” real.

6. You need assistance or serious exercise moves to get up/out/moving. There’s really nothing like a nice scissor kick to propel you up from lying down in the morning. And my husband has to help me off the couch.

7. You get much clumsier. It’s maybe a little ridiculous how many times I drop things, and then wonder if it’s worth picking them up.

8. Everything inside is squished. Consequently, heartburn is prevalent, it doesn’t take long for you to be gasping for air, and the pregnancy snore is real.

9. Nothing fits. Because of this, you are stuffing your feet into the last pair of shoes that just barely stretch enough. You are constantly tugging your shirt down, and pulling it up, too.

Another thing that oddly doesn’t fit anymore? Your wedding ring. After I hit my 30th week, my fingers were so swollen that my wedding rings were history. If you wear one, you know how much your finger feels a little ghostly without.

Which is why I am so grateful that Enso Rings sent me a silicone ring to try. Most wedding rings are for better or for worse. Enzo Rings are for both – and for when your pregnant fingers are too swollen to fit your regular band.

But not just for pregnancy! They’re for afterwards, when you don’t want to accidentally scratch your child with a diamond. They’re for my husband, who works a lot with his hands and doesn’t want to accidentally scratch up something so valuable. They’re for my friend who goes on tour with her band, and prefers something simple to her normal ring when she performs. They’re for me when I work out at the gym or go swimming, and don’t want to risk hurting or losing my ring.

I’m wearing their new copper ring, which looks beautiful, like it’s really made of copper. Except that it is simple silicone, something I don’t have to worry about taking off before I get in the shower or play with my little guy. It’s very lightweight, which is surprising to me, but it’s solid enough to make me feel the comfort of having it there. In addition, it’s an obvious sign to anyone that I’m taken.

Enso Rings offers a ton of different styles and colors for either gender and any preference. They are so much more functional and comfortable than your typical metal or even wooden band.

This week, Enso Rings is generously offering a $50 gift card to one lucky reader! Enter using the options below. Winner must be age 18 or older, and reside in the US.
