Summer seems to be the big birthday season, don’t you think? Even if it’s not your birthday (but I can’t help saying it, mine’s in summer), there just seem to be birthdays and parties every other week. Many of my good friends are moms. While ladies are typically pretty easy to shop for, I think there are certain things that really appeal to mommies.

Trying to figure out what to get for your friend – or to the guys, your wife? Looking for something different than a candle or journal? Allow me to give you a little inspiration. Here are some unique birthday gift ideas for mamas:

1. Paint Night. We just celebrated a friend’s birthday at one of these. I’d never been before, but it was so much fun! You don’t have to be an artist to participate. (Score!) In many cases, you can bring your own food and wine. There’s also great music and a dance break, so basically it’s a big party. Look for Groupons in your area to local events.

2. Babysit for a date night, or girl’s night out. Mom life is the best life. For sure. But that doesn’t mean we don’t like to dress up, eat a dinner that we didn’t make, and see a movie that’s not about cartoon airplanes once in a while. Offer babysitting so she can have peace of mind while she enjoys her time away.

3. Something personalized. That she doesn’t have to share. But can if she wants to. I am all about personalized mama jewelry, but get creative – maybe a tote bag (you know she needs it!), a water bottle or tumbler, or a blanket instead.

4. A comfortable pair of shoes. I’m not talking crazy. But I have a pair of yoga mat flip flops that are incredible, and there are definitely Crocs that don’t look like actual Crocs, but are just as comfy. It’s kind of a silly thing, but for the mom who is on her feet all day – priceless.

5. The perfect mama tee. I’m such a sucker for a good mama t-shirt. They can be anywhere from adorable to just hilarious. Here are some of my favorites (not affiliate links): Mom Life Tee from Jumping Jack, #MomLife Tee from Emerson Grace Boutique, Mama Tee from The Blue Envelope (also in Aunt and Nana), Mombie Tee from Still Rad Clothing Co, Mami Tee from ILY Couture, and also Mom Hair Don’t Care Tee from Parentees.

6. A subscription box. So Mama can get something in the mail that’s not a bill or a catalog. There are JUST SO MANY boxes out there now, ones for every personality and taste – from makeup to snacks to clothing to home to jewelry. I recently got to try out a PopSugar Must Have Box, which is a lifestyle box that has a little of all of those things – see below. It’s a fun surprise that you can opt to get monthly, or every once in a while when you feel like a treat. They have mini boxes as well.

What are your “out of the box” ideas for gifts for moms? Anything you’ve gotten that really made your day?

Thanks to PopSugar for providing me with the June Must Have Box in this post. All opinions are my own.
