I have become a big Madewell fan over the past few years. They do a perfect mix of cool and cute with an edge that is often overlooked in their sister brand, J. Crew.

The clothes are comfortable and well-made and even though they are often displayed on fabulous skinny French-girl types (a look I love), I am always happy to see they actually translate well onto fabulous not-so-skinny American-girl bodies like mine, too.

Here are some of my current faves from the newest collection (clockwise from top left):

Flynn Tucker shoulder bag. After years of super-sized handbags, I am feeling a smaller, simpler silhouette for Spring and Summer and this chic, petite crossover is perfect.

Skinny skinny jeans in light storm. It’s basically acid wash, the 2014 version. And they are great. Paired with a simple tee and heels, they give an instant dose of different to your typical denim look.

Linen muscle tees. This Paris one was so hot it sold out almost instantly (though it looks like it’s back in stock online, so act fast!), but beyond the trendy typography, this tee is cut to perfection. I know because I picked it up in three different colors.

Tracecraft bangle. A simple, cool bangle that is great for stacking and equally lovely solo.

Indio shades. My Hepcat shades from last year could not be more worn in (they are that good) so this subtle evolution on the classic style is a perfect way to change it up (slightly) for the new season.

Slide sightseer sandal. A great go-to sandal. Mine are taking a minute to break in, but I am sure it will be worth it.

Ensign necklace. A great gold piece to add a little cool to a pretty dress or top.

Jean vest. Let me tell you, my wardrobe was definitely not screaming out for a denim vest…for any reason. But when a Madewell stylist suggested I toss this one over my muscle tee the other day, it just worked. And suddenly, I think we all need a denim vest in our wardrobes for the Summer. Luckily, I found you a good one.
