Bob & Marianne’s ‘Home Improvement Hit List’ Contest
Official Rules
1. To Enter: No Purchase Necessary. The “Home Improvement Hit List” Contest (the “Contest”) begins 9:00am on March 18, 2014 and ends at 11:59pm on Sunday, December 28, 2014. During the Contest Period, WGN Radio listeners will be invited to submit their entry for a minor exterior renovation project or projects on the entrant’s home to be completed by Siding-1 Windows-1 Exteriors by emailing WGNhomeimprovement@gmail.com. Exterior projects eligible for consideration include exterior doors, decks, gutters, windows, garages, siding, concrete, roofs and fascia. Entries must describe why Siding-1 Windows-1 should complete the requested home renovation project(s), and must include an attached photograph or personal video (less than 5 minutes in length) describing the requested project(s). Entrants must include all required contact information, including Entrant’s name, age, address, email address, and phone number and explain in 150 words or less, why the home renovation project should be selected as a winner of Bob & Marianne’s Home Improvement Hit List . Only one entry per person, email address and household will be permitted during every selection period (every 8 weeks).
Winner must be 18 years of age or older and own and reside in a single family home (not in a condominium or apartment complex) in the Chicagoland metropolitan area (defined as Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties in Illinois; Porter and Lake counties in Indiana). Entrants must use their own name. If any dispute arises concerning the identity of an entrant, the owner of an email account identified in the entry form shall be deemed the entrant. WGN Radio is not responsible for lost, incomplete, damaged, illegible, late, or misdirected entries, or for errors in mechanical transmission, technical difficulties or inability to transmit Internet entries.
2. Winner Selection and Notification: On Monday, March 31, 2014, WGN Radio staff will judge all entries received by 11:59pm on March 30, 2014 and select up to 4 finalists based on the feasibility of the requested project(s) and human-interest appeal (“Selection Period”). WGN Radio will contact each finalist by phone and/or e-mail, after all entries are reviewed, to set up a time to conduct a site visit at the finalists’ homes at a mutually agreeable date and time to determine if the home is suitable for the requested home improvement project(s). WGN Radio and Siding-1 Windows-1 staff will film the site visits at each finalist’s home to be used for future promotion of the contest on wgnradio.com, wgn.fm, and siding1windows1.com. Site visits must be conducted within two weeks of the finalist notification. Selection Period will be repeated on the Monday every eight weeks after March 31, 2014 during the Contest Period. Entries not selected as a finalist during each Selection Period must be resubmitted to be considered for future rounds.
WGN Radio staff will select one entry from the finalists pool at the conclusion of the site visits and declared the grand prize winner during every Selection Period. Declaration of the Grand Prize Winner will be determined using the same judging criteria to select the finalists. The winning entrant will be notified by email and/or telephone. The name of the winning entrant and video may be announced on-air during the Bob and Marianne show (weekdays 12p-3p), and may be posted on WGN Radio and WGN.FM’s websites. If a selected winner is later determined to be ineligible, then that entrant shall be disqualified and any prizes will be forfeited.
3. Prizes: Grand Prize Winner (5 total): Five grand prize winners selected during the Contest Period will receive renovations on a project(s) that were submitted for the Contest. Winner will receive up to $4,000 in small exterior home renovations from Siding-1 Windows-1 Exteriors, including materials and labor to be completed within one year of receiving the prize.
Winners may elect to choose projects at or below the $4,000 ARV, based on Siding-1 Windows-1 standard rates. Projects below the $4,000 value will not receive cash or credit towards any future projects and the remaining value will be forfeited. Winners are responsible for paying for any labor and materials over the $4,000 credit only at their request and mutually agreed upon by Siding-1 Windows-1. Project(s) and corresponding costs will be determined in advance of the Grand Prize Winner selection during the finalist site visit completed by WGN Radio and Siding-1 Windows-1 Exteriors. Approximate total retail value of the prize package is $4,000.00.
The winner is solely responsible for any applicable federal, state and local taxes in connection with winner’s prize. The winner may be required to complete and submit an IRS Form W9 prior to receiving the prize. WGN Radio and Siding-1 Windows-1 Exteriors maintain the right to choose the final project selection. Certain restrictions may apply; prize recipients will receive notice of any such limits at the time they receive prize notification. Prizes are non-transferable, non-negotiable and not redeemable for cash, credit or merchandise. No prize substitutions except at WGN Radio’s sole discretion.
5. Eligibility Restrictions: This Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Participation in this contest is open only to legal U.S. citizens ,18 years of age or older and own and reside in a single family home (not in a condominium or apartment complex) in the Chicagoland metropolitan area (defined as Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties in Illinois; Porter and Lake counties in Indiana). Employees and immediate family members of WGN Radio, Siding-1 Windows-1 Exteriors, their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates and advertising agencies are not eligible to win. Entrants who have won any prize valued over $600 from WGN Radio within the last 2 years (counted from the date of finalist selection) are not eligible.
6. Internet: If for any reason the Internet-related portion of this Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, tampering, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause, which corrupts, interrupts or threatens the administration, security or integrity of the Contest, WGN Radio reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate or suspend the Contest or any portion thereof. Any attempt to damage or undermine the fair and legitimate operation of the Contest will result in disqualification. Except where otherwise prohibited by law, information submitted in entries, including entrant’s name, address, e-mail, nominee’s name, age and narrative description, etc., may be used by WGN Radio, its affiliates and its licensees for marketing or promotional purposes.
7. Conditions of Entry: Except where prohibited by law, by entering, each entrant grants permission, without further compensation, to WGN Radio and Siding-1 Windows-1 Exteriors, and their agents and licensees, to use the entrant’s name, voice, photograph, likeness, biographical material, all information submitted in the entry email, and any video/images filmed during site visits and projects themselves for broadcast and promotional purposes in connection with the Contest, in any media. By entering, each entrant agrees on behalf of him/herself, that if selected as a winner, each may be required to sign a release and waiver of liability, and that failure to execute the prepared form of release and waiver may result in disqualification and forfeiture of prizes. By entering, each entrant agrees to release WGN Radio from any claim, loss, liability, damage or injury of any kind arising from the entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use of a prize. Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules, and by entering, agree that all decisions regarding eligibility, the administration of this Contest, and the award of Contest prizes made by WGN Radio shall be final and binding. This Contest shall be governed and enforced pursuant to Illinois law, excluding choice of law provisions.
8. Other Conditions: Winners may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release, and, if so, it must be returned to Sponsor within one week of the date Sponsor sends it to winner. Failure to return such document will result in that winner being disqualified, and Sponsor may randomly draw another winner from among all remaining entries. Siding-1 Windows-1 Exteriors is solely responsible for performance of the remodeling project(s) and any guarantees of performance, materials or workmanship.
WGN Radio reserves the right to delay contest announcements, postpone or reschedule all or some of the contest events, and/or modify contest deadlines if breaking news, sports coverage or other unanticipated events prevent the Selection Period from occurring as scheduled. If such changes occur, they will be posted on the wgnradio.com website. Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to terminate or suspend the contest or any portion of the contest. ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE FAIR AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE CONTEST.
9. Winners List: For a Winners List or a copy of the official rules, send a self-addressed stamped envelope labeled “Bob & Marianne’s Home Improvement Hit List Contest” to 435 N. Michigan Ave. Chicago, IL 60611. Requests for winners’ lists must be received by January 31, 2015.
