Join NewsTalk 1260 – WFTW with Mojo Sportswear, Pensacola Parade People and the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce… Bring your family and kick off the Mardi Gras season with the first parade on the Gulf Coast – the Abita Mardi Gras Parade on Okaloosa Island.  That’s Saturday, January 16, at 1 pm.

Abita Brewing Company’s sponsorship of the Parade brings a special New Orleans spirit to the event that has been a local tradition for thirteen years. It’s a family-friendly celebration, with beads and throws tossed by participants on the colorful floats, and with festively costumed walkers in the Mardi Gras mood.  The parade will begin at Tarpon Drive and travel eastward down Santa Rosa Blvd., ending at the Tom Thumb.

Along the parade route (Santa Rosa Blvd. on Okaloosa Island), several restaurants will serve food and drink specials at festive booths flanking the road.  After the parade, the celebrations will continue at Helen Back Café.

Let the good times roll with NewsTalk 1260 – WFTW and Mojo Sportswear, now open in Destin Commons. We get our beads from Pensacola Parade People and you can too at ParadePeople.com.

The Abita Mardi Gras Parade is sponsored by Abita Brewing Company, the City of Fort Walton Beach, the Emerald Coast Tourism Development Council, Helen Back, and the Northwest Florida Daily News, in addition to the annual sponsors of the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, the event coordinators.  You’re invited to register your float in the parade – simply contact Rachelle Graves at the FWB Chamber – 850-244-8191.  Parade applications and more details may be found on the Chamber’s web site atFWBChamber.com
