Harrisburg, PA– The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, (PennDOT) is seeking motorists’ input on highway safety, traffic safety enforcement and driving behaviors through an online survey at www.penndot.gov/safety.
“Our top priority continues to be safety,” PennDOT Secretary Leslie S. Richards said. “Public input through this survey allows us to quantify and adjust our safety efforts while gauging participants’ knowledge of the consequences of unsafe behaviors.”
The brief survey will be available until August 23 and focuses on highway safety issues such as seat belts, impaired driving, speeding, motorcycles and distracted driving. People completing the survey may remain anonymous, but are asked to provide their gender, age and county of residence.

BUCKS COUNTY
On Monday, August 8, through Friday, August 26, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, weekday lane restrictions are scheduled on Deerwood Lane/Sawmill Road/Stoney Garden Road between Route 212 and Route 412 in Haycock Township, Bucks County, for milling and resurfacing.

Route 152 (Limekiln Pike) will be closed and detoured between Park Avenue and Hilltown Pike in Chalfont Borough, Hilltown and New Britain towsnhips, Bucks County, beginning Monday, August 8, for the replacement of four deteriorated drainage pipes. Route 152 (Limekiln Pike) will be closed Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM through late August.
During construction, Route 152 (Limekiln Pike) through traffic will be detoured over Park Avenue, Callowhill Road and Hilltown Pike. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area. The work schedule is weather dependent.

The Interstate 95 Rest Area near the Taylorsville Road (exit 51) in Lower Makefield Township, Bucks County, will be closed from 7:00 AM Tuesday, August 9, to 7:00 AM Wednesday, August 10, for a utility relocation operation.

Bristol Road will be closed and detoured on the west side of the intersection with Route 263 (York Road) in Warminster and Warwick townships, Bucks County, for two months, beginning Tuesday, July 5, for intersection reconstruction. During construction to rebuild the west side of Bristol Road at its approach to Route 263 (York Road), traffic will be detoured over Route 611 (Easton Road), Route 132 (Street Road) and Route 263 (York Road). Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone as eastbound Bristol Road traffic will be able to reach Route 263 (York Road) to travel north or south during construction; however, eastbound travelers will not be able to cross the intersection. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.
The west side of Bristol Road is expected to reopen in late-August.

The right lane will be closed on southbound Route 413 (New Rogers Road) at U.S. 13 in Bristol Township, Bucks County, beginning Tuesday, July 19, for widening and construction of left turn lane. Route 413 south (New Rogers Road) will be restricted weekdays from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM through August 31.

Springfield Street will be closed and detoured between Route 309 and East Station Road through September 2016 while crews replace the deteriorated bridge deck and beams. Motorists will be detoured over Route 309 and East Station Road.
Alden Road will be closed and detoured between Stevens Road and Valley Road through September 2016 for the replacement of the deteriorated bridge deck and beams. Motorists will follow the posted detour of Stevens Road, Gordon Road, and Valley Road.
Local access will be maintained up to the construction zones. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY
A lane closure is scheduled on the westbound Route 363 (Trooper Road) interchange in Montgomery County, on Monday, August 8, through Friday, August 12, from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM for the anchoring of temporary concrete barriers.

Interstate 76 will be reduced from two lanes to one between the Conshohocken (Exit 331B) and U.S. 1 (Exit 339) interchanges in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, on Thursday, August 11 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for cleaning storm drains.
The eastbound right shoulder on I-76 east will be closed between U.S. 202 and U.S. 1 on Monday, August 8 and Tuesday, August 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for sweeping. This is a moving operation. The westbound shoulder will be closed on Wednesday, August 10 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for sweeping.

Norfolk Southern Railroad is planning to close Flourtown Road between Butler Pike and Woodbine Way in Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County, beginning Tuesday, June 14, for railroad bridge maintenance. The closure will be in effect through early August. During construction, motorists traveling on Flourtown Road will be detoured over Joshua Road, Germantown Pike and Butler Pike. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area. The work schedule is contingent on the weather.

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, June 20, to rehabilitate the township-owned Keebler Road bridge over Abrams Run in Upper Merion Township. Keebler Road will be closed and detoured between General Knox Road and Route 23 (West Valley Forge Road) through August 2016 while crews replace the deteriorated bridge deck and beams. During construction, Keebler Road through traffic will be detoured over Allendale Road and Route 23 (West Valley Forge Road.

Starting Monday, April 11, through the end of August, Church Road will be closed for water main replacement between New Second Street and Route 73 (Township Line Road) in Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County, Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. During construction, motorists will be detoured over New Second Street and Route 73 (Township Line Road.

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, July 18, to rehabilitate the township-owned Trewigtown Road bridge over a tributary of the Neshaminy Creek in Hatfield Township, Montgomery County.
Trewigtown Road will be closed and detoured between Anthony Drive and Line Lexington Road through October 2016 while crews replace the deteriorated bridge deck and beams. During construction, Trewigtown Road through traffic will be detoured over Line Lexington Road and Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike).

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, July 11, to rehabilitate the township-owned Remington Road bridge over the west branch of the Indian Creek in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.
Remington Road will be closed and detoured between Minden Way and Roslyn Lane through October 2016 while crews replace the deteriorated bridge deck and beams. During construction, Remington Road through traffic will be detoured over U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue), U.S 1 (City Avenue), and Haverford Road.

Limerick Township is scheduled to close Limerick Center Road between Buttonwood Drive and Enterprise Drive in Montgomery County, beginning Monday, July 11, for intersection reconstruction. The closure of Limerick Center Road will be in effect through mid-November.
During this operation, Limerick Center Road through traffic will be detoured over Ridge Pike, Lewis Road and Cherry Lane. Motorists can also take Ridge Pike to Airport Road to access Limerick Center Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

Construction will start Tuesday, August 2, on a project to improve travel and safety on a three mile section of U.S. 1 (City Avenue) between Interstate 76 and U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) in Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, by installing adaptive traffic signals to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety along the corridor. The project is scheduled to finish in November 2017.

Construction will start Monday, April 25, to rehabilitate the structurally deficient bridge carrying Route 73 (Skippack Pike) over Perkiomen Creek in Perkiomen and Skippack townships, and Schwenksville Borough, Montgomery County. The bridge is scheduled to reopen in late December. During construction, Route 73 (Skippack Pike) will be closed and detoured between Main Street and Haldeman Road. The posted detour will use Route 29 (Gravel Pike) and Plank Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Old Welsh Road between Fitzwatertown Road and Lukens Avenue in Abington Township, Montgomery County, will close beginning Wednesday, July 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for water main installation. The weekday closure of Old Welsh Road will be in effect through the end of December.
During construction, Old Welsh Road through traffic will be detoured over Fitzwatertown Road, Route 63 (Welsh Road/Moreland Road) and Route 611 (Old York Road). Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

CHESTER COUNTY
On Sunday, August 7, through Thursday, August 11, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, and from 8:00 PM Friday, August 12, to 10:00 AM Saturday, August 13, motorists will encounter periodic lane closures on U.S. 202 north and south to allow crews to complete post-construction “punch list” items in the work zone.

ROAD RE-OPENING ANNOUNCEMENT:
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) plans to open 2.5 miles of U.S. 202 to six lanes between the Route 401 and U.S. 30 interchanges in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, by mid-to-late next week, substantially completing construction on a $63.3 million improvement project that began in April 2013.
Crews will work Sunday, July 31, through Thursday, August 4, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM to complete line striping and other preparations for opening the rebuilt and widened expressway to six lanes.
Following the opening of U.S. 202 to six lanes, crews will close one lane in both directions on U.S. 202 between the Route 29 and U.S. 30 interchanges from 8:00 PM Friday, August 5, to 10:00 AM Saturday, August 6. The lane closures will allow the contractor to complete miscellaneous construction items in the work area. Crews will continue to work and close lanes on U.S. 202 at night periodically for the next several weeks to complete miscellaneous construction activities in the work zone.
All planned activities are weather permitting.

Construction will begin on Friday, August 5, to rehabilitate the structurally deficient bridge carrying Route 23 (Schuylkill Road) over French Creek in Phoenixville Borough and East Pikeland and Schuylkill townships, Chester County. The project is scheduled to finish Sunday, August 14.
During construction, Route 23 (Schuylkill Road) will be closed and detoured between Valley Forge Road and Township Line Road. The posted detour will use Township Line Road and Valley Forge Road. Southbound Township Line motorists wanting to access eastbound Route 23 (Schuylkill Road) will be detoured over Mowere Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Construction is scheduled to begin the week of April 11 to replace the Birmingham Road bridge over Radley Run in Birmingham Township, Chester County. The new bridge is scheduled to open in August. During the bridge closure, Birmingham Road through traffic is detoured over Route 52 (Lenape Road), Creek Road and Route 926 (Street Road). Local access is maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

Route 472 (East Lancaster Avenue) will close between Vernon Street and Pine Street in Oxford Borough, Chester County, beginning Monday, August 1, for roadway reconstruction. Route 472 (East Lancaster Avenue) will close Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM through early November.
During construction, Route 472 (East Lancaster Avenue) traffic will be detoured over Route 10 (Limestone Road) and U.S. 1. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

CSX Railroad will close Route 491 (Naamans Creek Road) between Ogden Avenue and Meetinghouse Road in Upper Chichester Township, Delaware County, on Monday, August 8 through Friday, August 12 for the replacement of a railroad crossing.
During the 24-hour operation, Route 491 (Naamans Creek Road) through traffic will be detoured over Mill Road, Bethel Road, Chichester Avenue and Meetinghouse Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

· Thursday, July 28, through Friday, September 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Calcon Hook Road is scheduled to close between Bonsall Avenue and Hook Road in Darby Township and Sharon Hill Borough, Delaware County. During this weekday closure, Calcon Hook motorists will be detoured over U.S. 13 (Chester Pike), Sharon Avenue and Hook Road.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these areas.
