The Pennsylvania Republican Party is backing a Northampton County official and a Berks county businessman for statewide elected offices.

During the party's winter meeting today, the state GOP endorsed Northampton County Executive John Brown for auditor general in this year's primary.

Berks County businessman Otto Voit was also endorsed for treasurer.

Brown has been Northampton County Executive since January 2014. If elected auditor general, he would be leaving the county executive post before the end of his four-year term.

State Senator John Rafferty was also endorsed for attorney general.

Along with Brown and Voit, Rafferty joins U.S. Senator Pat Toomey on the list of candidates endorsed by the Republican party.

Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason said "John Rafferty, John Brown and Otto Voit all share a common-sense commitment to restoring the public’s faith in our state row offices."
