ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – A man was arrested after police said he broke into the Florida Holocaust Museum early Sunday morning.

It happened at 3:04 a.m. Sunday. St. Petersburg Police Department received an alarm from the Florida Holocaust Museum located on 5th Street South. When SPPD officers arrived a few minutes later, they detained and arrested Christopher Michael Venegas, 26, of Clearwater.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage of the incident, they saw Venegas kick and break an electronic keypad and call box at the northern door. That’s how he got inside. Venegas was there for several minutes, but he didn’t seem to damage or take anything.

Venegas was charged with one count of Commercial Burglary and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
