Last summer, we opened up the PowerSchool student information system Parent Portal to all K-12 families to enhance communication with our school community. The Portal will continue to provide you with instant access to your child’s teacher assignment for the upcoming year, allow you to complete school forms electronically, and easily access other important information, such as attendance and progress reports. With one secure sign-on, you are able to select tabs for each child you have attending the Weston Public Schools. For families with more than one child, you need only a single username and password for all of your children.
How can I view my child’s teacher assignment with the Parent Portal?
Please go to the PowerSchool website, http://weston.powerschool.com, to view your child’s teacher assignment when the Parent Portal is reopened on August 21. You will need the username and password you set up last year to access the Parent Portal.
If you do not recall your username or password, click on the link for “Forgot Username?” or “Forgot Password?” to have it sent to your email address. In the event you are unable to recover your account sign-in information, please contact your child’s school directly for assistance.
How can I view my child’s teacher assignment if my child will be entering kindergarten or will be new to the district?
Families with children entering kindergarten or new to the district will receive an “access username” and “access password” in the mail, along with instructions to establish a PowerSchool account for first-time users. There is also a PowerPoint document accessible on the front page of the district website with additional information and screen shots illustrating how to set up the account.
How can I view my child’s teacher assignment if my child will be entering kindergarten and I have a PowerSchool account from last year for another child in the district?
For those families who had established a PowerSchool account last year for an older sibling and have a child entering kindergarten, you will be sent an “access username” and “access password” in the mail to add your kindergartener to your existing account.
Please go to the PowerSchool website, http://weston.powerschool.com, to view your child’s teacher assignment. You will initially use the same username and password you set up last year to access the Parent Portal. Once in the system, you should then use the “access username” and “access password” that will be sent to you in the mail to add your kindergartener.
What if I need assistance in setting up the PowerSchool Portal?
If you need assistance in setting up the Parent Portal, you may drop in to the Hurlbutt Elementary School Library Resource Center on Wednesday, August 21anytime from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., where representatives from our district’s technology staff will be available to provide you with a tutorial. A tutorial containing detailed instructions is also available.
When will my child’s teacher assignment for the 2013-14 school year become available through the Portal?
Teacher assignments for students in grades K-5 will be posted electronically at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21.
Teacher assignments for students in grades 6-12 may be accessed at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22.
How will I receive information regarding school closings and other important communications from the district?
It is important to check and update your emergency contact information in the Parent Portal to receive school and district communications in a timely manner.
We are looking forward to a successful year ahead of us. If you should have any questions regarding the start of the year, please contact your child’s school
