American Heart Association Honors Westgate Resorts for Its Work Providing Team Members With Opportunities to Encourage Them To Lead a Healthy Lifestyle In The Workplace

Once again, Westgate Resorts has been recognized as a Fit Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association for its continuous efforts to encourage health and wellness amongst its team member.  AHA Event Specialist, Allison Crouch, has bestowed this honor onto Westgate saying, “Thank you for the opportunities that you provide to your employee base on a regular basis that encourage them to lead a healthy lifestyle in the workplace”.

Specifically, the AHA was impressed with Westgate’s efforts to encourage team members to seek out and strive for their physical fitness goals through such programs as clinical health risk assessments and biometric screenings, company-wide weight-loss challenges, on-site cardio classes (i.e., yoga, Zumba, etc.), deeply discounted local gym memberships, free paid participation in 5k, relays, and charity walks, healthy choice food items at on-site cafeterias, and much more.

President and CEO, David Siegel, was extremely pleased with the news, stating, “I want to thank the American Heart Association for recognizing us for our company’s wellness program.  I am extraordinarily proud of our team members for their commitment to health and wellness, and have recently started a new program that provides health screening for all eligible team members and committing the necessary resources to guide them to a healthy lifestyle.  Taking care of our team members is our top priority!”

According to the AHA, studies suggest that having a worksite physical activity program and promoting a culture of activity, employers can improve productivity, reduce absenteeism, lower turnover, and finally reduce healthcare costs.  Additionally, employees will live happier and healthier lives through their participation in these wellness programs.

This is the 6th year in a row that Westgate Resorts has been recognized as a Fit Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association.
