ALTIUM EXPANDS STAFF

ROBERT H. MATOFSKY has joined Altium Wealth Management of Purchase as a director and member of the leadership team. Altium has also acquired the assets of Matofsky & Co.

Most recently, principal and founder of Matofsky & Co., Matofsky is a registered investment adviser with more than 20 years of experience as an investment management, insurance and fiduciary professional.

Prior to his founding of Matofsky & Co., Matofsky served as a vice president at Bank of America/Fleet where he managed fiduciary and investment relationships and provided counsel for affluent and ultra-affluent clients on a broad range of banking, financial, investment and fiduciary matters. Prior to that he was vice president, senior trust officer and portfolio manager of Winthrop Trust Co., the affiliate trust company of Credit Suisse Asset Management and Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette; and vice president and fiduciary manager at JPMorgan Chase.

Matofsky received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the State University of New York at Albany, his M.B.A. from Pace University, and his Chartered Financial Consultant designation from the American College. He is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Rockland County, served as a trustee of the New City Public Library and the Dellwood Foundation. He resides in New City.

WHITE PLAINS HOSPITAL has announced the following additions to its medical staff:

CLAUDIA QUINONEZ, M.D. specializes in internal medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed her internal medicine internship at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.

SHON SEBASTIAN, M.D. specializes in internal medicine. He received his medical degree from Medical University of Lublin and completed his internal medicine internship at Nassau University Medical Center and internal medicine residency at Northside Medical Center.

SWATI SEHGAL, M.D. specializes in hematology and oncology. She received her medical degree from SUNY Downstate and went on to complete her internship and residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System.

KRISHN SHARMA, M.D. specializes in orthopedic surgery. He received his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla and went on to complete his internship in surgery and residency in orthopedic surgery at Union Memorial Hospital, where he served as chief resident from 2004 – 2005. He then completed his fellowship in scoliosis and spinal surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center.

MINDY SOTSKY, M.D. specializes in endocrinology. She received her medical degree from Chicago Medical School and completed both her internship and residency in internal medicine at University of Southern California Medical Center. She completed her fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

PAMELA WEBER, M.D. specializes in diagnostic radiology. She received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her internship at Sound Shore Medical Center followed by a residency in radiology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Weber went on to complete her fellowship in body imaging at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

MICHAEL YAO, M.D. specializes in otolaryngology. He received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine and completed his internship in surgery and residency in head and neck surgery at Stanford Medical Center and his fellowship in head and neck oncology at the University of Texas/MD Anderson Cancer Center.

HARRY ZEMON, M.D. specializes in general surgery. He received his medical degree from George Washington University, where he remained for his residency in general surgery. He completed his fellowship in immunopathology and surgical oncology at Johns Hopkins University.

KRISTAN ZIMMERMANN, M.D. specializes in radiology. She received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed her internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital and a radiology residency at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital followed by a body imaging fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine.

OSTEOPOROSIS CENTER OPENS

THE PHELPS OSTEOPOROSIS CENTER has recently opened at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow. A multidisciplinary program under the medical direction of endocrinologist James Hellerman, the center provides comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and support for patients with osteoporosis.

At the center, diagnosis of osteoporosis is made based on a comprehensive medical examination, lab tests, DEXA bone-density scans, assessment of family history and other risk factors. An individual treatment plan for each patient may include medication to increase bone density, individual nutrition counseling, support groups and monthly group sessions for education, nutrition guidance and exercise taught by physical and occupational therapists.

NEW SALESPERSON AT HOULIHAN LAWRENCE

KATHRYN FINELLI has joined Houlihan Lawrence and will be working out of its Bedford office. A lifetime resident of Westchester County, Finelli is able to give her clients an insider’s perspective into the area with the extensive knowledge of someone deeply rooted in the community.

“Kathryn uses her Bedford and Pound Ridge hometown experiences to provide clients with specific details of the nuances and market of each area, allowing for them to make the most informed real estate decisions,” said Maryellen Walsh, brokerage manager of the Bedford office. “We value her experience and knowledge and are pleased she has joined our Bedford team.”

Previously associated with Ginnel Real Estate for 10 years, Finelli also has 15 years experience as a sales and marketing manager with Academy Reproduction, a reprographic firm in Westchester County. While at Academy, she worked with area architects, engineers and building contractors, which led her to the real estate industry.

PATTY O’BRIEN has recently joined Prudential Centennial Realty as a licensed real estate associate broker, according to Mark Nadler, principal real estate broker at Prudential.

O’Brien will concentrate on residential and commercial properties with extensive experience in corporate relocation. Having completed extensive coursework advocating the use of sustainable and recyclable materials, she is a designated EcoBroker and brings more than 29 years of real estate experience to her new position. Prior to joining Prudential Centennial Realty, O’Brien was an associate broker for Julia B Fee/Sotheby’s International Realty.

A lifelong Sound Shore resident, she will be specializing in Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Rye Neck, Rye, Harrison and New Rochelle. Her goal is to provide an anxiety-free real estate experience marked with integrity and humor.

ATTORNEY RECEIVES STATE BAR AWARD

JOHN S. MARWELL, a Mount Kisco attorney, is the 2014 recipient of the Attorney Professionalism Award, given by the Committee on Attorney Professionalism of the New York State Bar Association. The 75,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation.

The award recognizes a member who displays the highest standards of professionalism, commitment to promoting respect for the legal system, outstanding ethical conduct, competence, good judgment, integrity and civility. Marwell received his award Jan. 30 in New York City during the state bar association’s House of Delegates dinner.

“John Marwell’s legal career is built on integrity, good judgment and dedication to his clients. In his four decades of practice, he has been a pillar of the legal profession and a leader,” said Marion Hancock Fish of Syracuse, chair of the Committee on Attorney Professionalism. “He is a most deserving recipient.”

Marwell is a partner at Shamberg Marwell Hollis Andreycak & Laidlaw. His practice includes land-use litigation, zoning, environmental law and real estate law. He received his undergraduate degree from Columbia College and earned his law degree from Columbia Law School.

LBG NAMES NEW EXEC

LEGGETTE, BRASHEARS & GRAHAM INC. (LBG), a groundwater and environmental engineering services firm, has named SEAN GROSZKOWSKI, an associate vice president.

Based in the firm’s White Plains office, Groszkowski manages environmental projects with multimillion-dollar construction and remedial costs, including regulatory compliance, hazardous waste investigations and cleanups, hydrogeological investigations, environmental assessments, contaminant fate and transport modeling and litigation support. He specializes in management of inactive hazardous waste and site remediation under the New York State Brownfield Cleanups Program.

Groszkowski holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in geosciences, from Franklin & Marshall College. He is a certified professional geologist with the American Institute of Professional Geologists. Additionally, his technical affiliations include the Association of Ground Water Scientists and Engineers (National Ground Water Association), and the American Academy of Environmental Engineers (AAEE).

DOCTOR RECEIVES HEALTH CARE AWARD

BON SECOURS NEW YORK HEALTH SYSTEM’S SCHERVIER NURSING CARE CENTER, specializing in long-term and rehabilitation care in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, recognized DR. JOHN D’AMBROSIO as the Values in Action award recipient for December 2013.

The award honors those employees who live Bon Secours’ mission to bring compassion to health care and to be “good help” to those in need, especially the poor, elderly and the dying. D’Ambrosio, a resident of Yonkers and member of the medical services team for 24 years, is an attending physician at the nursing care center. He was nominated by his peers and fellow leaders for his innovative approach to caring for the elderly and for his compassion toward those dealing with the heartbreaking decisions of death and dying.

“I am very proud to present D’Ambrosio with this award, he embodies our shared values of compassion, respect, integrity, justice, growth, quality, innovation and stewardship,” said Stephen Kazanjian, director of mission at Schervier.

CARE PACKAGES FOR NEWBORNS

THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF CENTRAL WESTCHESTER will be delivering 150 packages filled with clothing and care products for mothers in need and their newborns leaving White Plains Hospital in White Plains.

The nonprofit was able to make a significant contribution through utilization of its own funds, as well as support from the Walmart Foundation/Sam’s Club and Sassy Inc. The Walmart Foundation provided a grant of $1,000 toward the initiative and Sassy donated 100 rattles.
