APPOINTMENT AT THE BRISTAL AT ARMONK
NANCY CAMPAGNA has been appointed director of community relations at THE BRISTAL AT ARMONK, an assisted living community that offers memory care support as well as enhanced levels of care. In her position, Campagna will assist with sales and marketing, coordinate tours of the residence, work with partnerships in the community and lead outreach efforts with area businesses.
Prior to joining The Bristal, Campagna was director of sales at Classic Residence by Hyatt, a senior living community in Yonkers, where she managed the sales and marketing efforts. She was also director of the senior center for Lenox Hill Neighborhood House in New York City.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Bryant College and a master’s degree in social work from Fordham University. A licensed social worker, Campagna graduated from Fordham University with a specialization in gerontology.
MAGID INDUCTED INTO INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION
DR. KENNETH MAGID of Advanced Dentistry was inducted into the International College of Dentists (ICD) in recognition of his services to the field of dentistry at a ceremony held in New Orleans. The ICD is a worldwide honorary dental organization established in 1928 with more than 12,000 members who have demonstrated an abiding interest and concern for their communities and profession. The qualifications of a candidate are evaluated and approximately the top 4 percent of dentists worldwide are offered fellowship.

NEW MEMBERS AT CHILD CARE COUNCIL
THE CHILD CARE COUNCIL OF WESTCHESTER, a nonprofit resource organization that works to ensure every child in Westchester has access to quality early care and education, has appointed APRIL LASHER SANDERS, SUE D’EMIC and KOREY R. KROSS to its board of directors. Sanders of Hawthorne, is a vice president and senior business banker at M&T Bank’s Tarrytown regional headquarters. A 2011 graduate of Leadership Westchester, Sanders is also the treasurer of the board of trustees for the Pleasantville Community Synagogue, and past president of the Elmsford Rotary.
D’Emic of Ossining, is the senior vice president, controller at Time Inc., a Time Warner Co. She previously served as the senior vice president, chief accounting officer for Frontier Communications. D’Emic holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton and is a certified public accountant. She is a member of the Financial Women’s Association, AICPA, and New York State Society of CPAs.
Kross of Norwalk, Conn., is a managing director at Clarfeld Wealth Strategists and Financial Confidantes. An attorney as well as a tax adviser, Kross has been providing tax advice to wealthy clients in the U.S. and internationally for more than 15 years. Prior to joining Clarfeld, he was a senior manager in KPMG›s International Expatriate Services group. Kross obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in finance from Fairfield University and a Juris Doctorate from The University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

LEAGUE’S BOUTIQUE HUGE SUCCESS
THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF CENTRAL WESTCHESTER (JLCW) held its 27th annual Holiday Boutique at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester. Gross sales topped $79,000; 20 percent of which will help support the JLCW’s programs promoting health and literacy, providing food and necessities to the underprivileged, empowering low-income families, helping preserve community history and training effective community volunteers.
The boutique featured more than 40 Westchester vendors attracting 250 Junior League members and friends.

HEINEKEN CROWNS FIRST STAR
The nation’s leading upscale beer importer HEINEKEN USA, in partnership with the U.S. BARTENDERS’ GUILD, named KELLY PIGULA of Hudson Grille in White Plains, as the first crowned champion of the U.S. Heineken Bartender Star Serve Championship held in New York City. The championship brought the top 16 bartenders from across the greater New York City area to compete in a bracket-style tournament for the title. As the U.S. champion, Pigula traveled to Amsterdam to compete in Heineken’s Global Star Serve Championship Nov. 25, courtesy of the U.S. Bartenders Guild.
Beginning in September, Heineken draught accounts were identified and trained on the ritual of the Star Serve. Throughout September and October, accounts were visited by mystery shoppers who judged the Star Serve based on the five-step process: rinse, pour, skim, check and serve.
“It was magical,” Pigula said on winning the competition. “I›ve never been to Europe and I›m excited to go and represent the U.S. My experience was amazing and I couldn›t be more thankful!”
NURSE RAISES MONEY TO FEED TYPHOON VICTIMS
INDIRA GAVIOLA, a registered nurse and clinical manager for VNS Westchester, a home health care agency based in White Plains, was born in the Philippines on the island of Maripipi. She still has a large number of family members who reside there as well as in the city of Tacloban, which was “ground zero” for the super Typhoon Haiyan, one of the deadliest in history. Unaware of their whereabouts and fearing for them for days, most family members were ultimately accounted for, although one of Gaviola’s first cousins is still missing.
At the earliest news of the disaster, Gaviola launched a campaign to raise funds from friends, families and her co-workers at VNS Westchester to send to her brother. To date, she has raised more than $3,200, which she has sent to her brother to purchase sacks of rice for people on her island.
Overwhelmed with the response to her one-woman fundraising drive, Gaviola sent the first round of collected donations Nov. 14 to her brother to buy 20 sacks of rice.
KEY NAMES BRANCH MANAGER
ROSINA CURTI has been named manager of KeyBank’s branch at 270 Martine Ave. in White Plains. Previously, Curti was manager for KeyBank’s North White Plains branch. Prior to joining KeyBank in February 2012, Curti worked for Commerce Bank/TD Bank as manager of the Rye branch. She has 13 years’ experience in the financial services industry. GREEN CHIMNEYS FOUNDER RECOGNIZED FOR LEADERSHIP
DR. SAMUEL ROSS JR. was recently presented with the Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award from the Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). The annual award honors an individual who has demonstrated excellence in fundraising and exemplifies dedication to the nonprofit sector and the professional fundraising community in New York’s mid-Hudson valley region.
Ross was one of three individuals to receive The Andrew Goodman Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Award, which honors ordinary people doing extraordinary things to change the world for the better. He shared the stage at The Schomberg Center in Harlem with fellow honorees and children’s advocates.

THE VOLUNTEER CENTER RECEIVES FUNDING
THE NEW YORK STATE COMMISSION ON NATIONAL & COMMUNITY SERVICE has provided each of the 10 regional volunteer centers (RVCs) across the state with $50,000 in funding to increase their capacity to engage volunteers to help prepare New York’s communities for potential disasters of the type experienced with Hurricane Irene, Tropical Storm Lee and Superstorm Sandy. THE VOLUNTEER CENTER OF UNITED WAY in Westchester is one of three RVCs to receive funding through the Sandy Block Grant, which will allow it to recruit a network of highly skilled volunteers to assist in Superstorm Sandy recovery.
The Volunteer Center of United Way is the RVC for the seven counties of the lower and mid-Hudson Valley, including Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster. After Hurricane Sandy, The Volunteer Center played an important role in recruiting and managing volunteers for United Way’s 211 databases.
DAMIAN MORALES has been named director of disaster programs and will be responsible for building relationships among federal and state entities, local offices of emergency management, human services agencies, faith-based organizations, disaster volunteer organizations and other community stakeholders to effectively coordinate volunteer resources during a disaster response.

ORCHESTRA NAMES LEADERSHIP TRIUMVIRATE
THE WESTCHESTER PHILHARMONIC announced the appointments of renowned violinist and conductor Jaime Laredo, and Tony Award-winning conductor Ted Sperling, as principal conductors. Joshua Worby, the executive director since 2006, becomes the orchestra’s new executive and artistic director.
Worby noted that the appointments of Laredo and Sperling, which commence with the 2014-15 season, follow two previous guest appearances by each conductor that were “tremendously well-received by our audience and elicited overwhelming support from the orchestra musicians. Laredo is a consummate artist and a titan of the music world, a leader and friend you will follow over any hill” said Worby. “We are honored to welcome him to the orchestra and look forward to building on the relationship we have already established.” Laredo will lead two of the orchestra’s five annual main stage programs, both as conductor and soloist.
Tony-winning conductor, arranger and New Rochelle native Sperling will lead the Philharmonic’s upcoming Winter Pops concert for the third consecutive season, Dec. 22. “The fact that we have re-engaged Ted three years in a row speaks for itself,” said Worby. “He commands enormous respect from the musicians and the guest artists we’ve engaged like Kelli O’Hara and Norm Lewis, and after just two concerts with us he quickly developed a truly special rapport with our audience.”
In addition to leading its annual Winter Pops, Sperling will also conduct a second subscription series program annually, as well as the orchestra’s annual concert for local school children.

More than 40 enterprising women mixed and mingled for business and to benefit the Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center whose mission is to provide advocacy, education and services to the community in order to create a safe, supportive environment that eliminates violence against women and children and promotes gender equality.

Barbara Venturi of Armonk is the 2013 winner of the Lillian Vernon Award for Community Service from the Women’s Enterprise Development Center (WEDC).
Venturi, a co-founder and managing partner of AMBAR Realty Group L.L.C., a commercial real estate firm specializing in global tenant representation and account management for corporations with multimarket acquisition and disposition assignments, has been involved in various sectors of the real estate industry, including leasing, strategic planning, finance, and development, for more than 20 years. She has also been an active and dedicated WEDC volunteer for many years and has served as its president for the last three years.

ArtsWestchester Gala Honors David V. Ring and First Niagara
More than 500 guests from Westchester County’s arts and business community were on hand Nov. 16 for the annual ArtsWestchester Gala in White Plains where David V. Ring, managing director, Enterprise Banking at First Niagara and First Niagara were honored as exemplary supporters of the arts in Westchester.
Ring and First Niagara received the Corporate Honoree Award. As secretary of ArtsWestchester Board of Trustees, Ring has played a prominent role in the organization’s strategic planning process and in its efforts to build community awareness of the economic and intrinsic value of the arts. Since entering the Hudson Valley market in 2012, First Niagara has been a major supporter of ArtsWestchester.
