Western Timber Frame™, the leading backyard ShadeScape™ provider in North America, is pleased to announce that Bradley J. Lavery, CEO & Co-Founder, is a 2017 Utah Business Forty Under 40 honoree. Under Bradley’s leadership, Western Timber Frame quickly emerged as the industry leader in providing elevated timber shade structures for both residential and commercial environments.

Every year, Utah Business recognizes Utah’s up-and-coming professionals rising through the ranks at record speed in its Forty Under 40 list. This year’s list of honorees includes innovating tech wizards, visionary entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders and executive captains who are guiding industry trends and shaping the future of their organizations and the state of Utah.

“Each year we are more impressed with the depth of the talent pool in Utah,” said Donnie Welch, publisher of Utah Business magazine. “We receive three times as many nominations as we can recognize in the program—which means that the Forty Under 40 honorees are truly the cream of the crop.”

Ethan Millard, host of KSL News Radio’s Your Utah and the Nightside Project Podcast and the emcee of Thursday’s event, said the honorees—both the current class and the rest of the 600 recognized by Utah Business over the last 15 years—are emblematic of the strength of the state’s business community as a whole.

“Forty Under 40 epitomizes the talent, vibrancy and diversity of Utah’s business community. The honorees are people who have made great contributions to their companies, communities and causes,” he said.

The 2008 financial crash was difficult for a lot of people, but Bradley Lavery was one of those who were hit the hardest. “I ended up losing everything. I lost my home, my cars, my investments, all my businesses, everything. I had to start over from zero. Everything I had worked my entire life up to that point was gone,” he says in a video interview.

Since he had already experienced failure in the past, Lavery wasn’t intimidated to try something big. He found passion in co-founding Western Timber Frame™, which offers elevated timber shade structures for residential and commercial environments (ShadeScape™ structures).

“I wanted to employ as many people as possible and not just give them a job opportunity, but a solid career path,” said Lavery. “I also wanted to create a solution for an industry that would enrich people’s lives every day.”

Within a few years, the company was already generating tens of millions of dollars in sales, and Lavery had to grapple with a completely different problem—how to keep up with the business’ explosive growth. With several patented designs and construction methods, Western Timber Frame™ is now the top pergola and pavilion kit manufacturer in North America.

Lavery says he is proud of the impact his company’s products have on people’s lives. “We are literally giving people reason to live again in their backyards, create memories with family and friends, and enrich their lives. That’s why we continue to maintain a perfect 5-star customer rating, and that makes it all worth it.”

Lavery concluded, “We could have never really accomplished so much without our amazing team and staff. Their dedication and passion are the real reason for the monumental success we have today.”

We want to congratulate Bradley on his success, leadership, and impact in the Utah community!

Utah Business recognized the 2017 honorees at an awards ceremony at The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City. They are also featured in the February 2017 issue of the magazine.
