New Business:

West High soccer girls:  please meet in front of the girl’s gym for soccer conditioning this Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30.  Be prepared to run.

There will be a baseball meeting on Thursday during both lunches in the boy’s locker room. Fall ball will be discussed. The meeting will be short so come at the beginning of lunch.

Seniors: Start your year off right!!  Come join all your senior friends at the Senior Sunrise this Friday, September 12th at 6:00am at the Football Field.  Free donuts and drinks will be available!!!

All girls interested in playing basketball this year please meet Monday September 15th on the track at 3:30. If you are currently in a fall sport you will be able to go out at the end of your current season

The CSF application period is here! Applications for CSF will be accepted through September 16th. If you are interested in graduating in a gold robe and earning accolades and awards for your academic achievements, then you need to apply. If you’re in 10th–12th grade, you just need to fill out a CSF application, attach your transcript and bring it to Mr. Oliver in W-8. It’s that easy. Applications are available in science classrooms, in the College/Career Center, and in W-8.

Help your students who get free or reduced lunch to get Free internet for 6 months by simply dialing 211. This State sponsored organization will come to their home and install the Internet and even provide a second hand computer. The special being offered runs to September 20th. After this date it would cost the family $9.99 a month.

From the Dean’s Office:

Physical Displays of Affection (PDA) are not allowed on campus.  Violation of the school’s policy can result in disciplinary action.  Any questions please contact the Dean’s Office.

·          “Attention students: The front parking lot is not a loading zone.  Make arrangements to be dropped off or picked up on Nordic or Fjord.  Cars parked in the red zone may be ticketed.”

·         Attention students:

Please make sure that you are parking in the student parking lot.  If you are parking in an area designated for staff parking, you will be ticketed.

·         No fountain drinks, energy drinks, or open containers including Starbucks and Jamba Juice are allowed on campus! If you bring one of these drinks on campus, you will be asked to throw it away.

·         The locker rooms are a food free zone.  Students are not allowed in the locker rooms at lunch, any student found unsupervised will be escorted to the Dean’s Office for disciplinary action.

Our Dress Code is as follows:  Hats, spaghetti strap tops, see through apparel, apparel which does not cover under garments, or any disruptive clothing cannot be worn on this campus. Thanks for your cooperation!

·         Our school Electronics Policy is as follows:

Cell Phones and other electronic devices (i.e. IPODS, MP3, CD players, personal cameras, etc.) must be turned off and out of sight once the tardy bell rings for class and until class is dismissed.  It is up to the discretion of the teacher when electronic devices may be used as an educational tool.  Students refusing to put their electronic device away or who are abusing the electronics policy are exhibiting defiance and will be taken to the Dean’s Office for disciplinary action.

Consequences for Electronic Defiance

First Violation:  After school detention for defiance, parent/guardian contacted.

Second Violation:  Two after school detentions, parents/guardian contacted.

Third Violation:  Student is taken to Dean of Student’s office for further disciplinary action.

Student Responsibility for Electronics

West High School is NOT RESPONSIBLE for any lost, damaged, or stolen cell phones, iPods, iPads, MP3 players or any other electronic device.  Students are encouraged to keep their electronic device with them at all times.  Devices should be off and away during class unless otherwise instructed.

Students WILL NOT be allowed into sporting events with backpacks or skateboards.

The library will only be used for finding and checking out books, using computers for a class assignment, and studying or tutoring.  Students will not be able to socialize in the library or use it to avoid the rain or heat.  Thank you for following the new rules.
