From Wednesday 5 t / m Sunday, February 9, 2014 presents the second edition of Route du Nord Light work of ten (inter) national artists: special visual arts, music and literature, with a focus on light art. Complemented by a Rotterdam music and literature program will Roodkapje, BAR, BIRD and Zomerhofstraat 69 and 71 shine.
Route du Nord has grown in recent years from a small atelierroute to a lively multi-day festival . During the festival, it’s not only about looking art, but also about the
encounters between artists and their audience.
Curator and visual artist Kiki Petratou organized the
exhibitions. Roodkapje shows work of
Gyz La Rivière, John Robert and Tonio the Void. Pioneer, artist and designer Daan Roosegaarde shows his ‘Marbles’, huge glowing forms which communicate with the public through sound, light and color. In addition, in 69 Zomerhofstraat
you can visit the retrospective exhibition of video and
audio installations by artist Martin Short (aka
BARKODE).
Rotterdam music also gets a spot during Route du Nord Light. Roodkapje and BIRD have a comprehensive music program that shows the diversity of the Rotterdam
pop music sound. Route du Nord Light starts Wednesday in Roodkapje with the opening of Herrek and their special guests, Dieleman and Brother Boy Who Spoke Clouds. In addition, there are performances by the Black Midgets or The Future (surprise act with a mix of members from a
known young Rotterdam band and a legendary band from the 80’s) Sommerhus, Sir Ian, Nishe and 3 Dead Mexicans On A Skateboard and literature and art performances from Elfie Tromp and others . Friday, February 7 organizes Route du Nord ‘Nacht van Lichte Zeden’ in BAR , an evening inspired by Berlin nightclub atmosphere .
Event data: Wed February 05, 19:00 in Roodkapje, BAR, BIRD and Zomerhofstraat 69 and 71
