Donald Van Osten, 86, died on July 1, 2013. A lifelong resident of the Wenatchee Valley, he was born on October 5, 1926, to Frank and Mamie (Eiachacker) Van Osten of East Wenatchee. Upon graduation from Wenatchee High School, he served in the U.S. Army, 6th Infantry Division from 1946 to 1947. In 1949, Don married Audrey Hisel in Coeur d'Alene, ID and made their home in East Wenatchee. In 1950, he was recalled by the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in Korea. He was discharged in 1951, and went to work for Columbia Tractor, a local Caterpillar distributor, as a truck driver.
