Cynth Weyman creating ‘Retire to Wear Purple – No Chance!

Why not allow some quality time to browse in Cynth Weyman’s new inspired 2 collect gallery in Blue Street Carmarthen in preparation for this winter’s festivities. Working on various themes, she changes her paintings, textile reliefs and posh silk scarves display on a regular basis so you are invited to visit time and time again. She also has numerous artworks in hidden corners so don’t be shy – just pop in and ask to see more than what’s in the window.

There is something for everyone: cards, prints, silk scarves from her original paintings and large textile reliefs. Current on-going themes include Seascapes – Pembrokeshire; Botanical – Fungi & Aberglasney Gardens; Diary of an Artist; Rock Woman – Pwllgwaelod, and ‘my posh scarves’ collection (seen by Liberty’s of London and Hermes of Paris). A new series of paintings is in progress towards a collection of textile relief pictures based on Sir Gâr (Carmarthenshire) starting with the Towy Valley and scenes along the A40.

‘Yew Dancers; Aberglasney’ a large textile relief panel was sold last month and it took the two happy buyers to carry it to their car – quite a site! They came, they went for lunch, had an ‘executive’ discussion and then they returned soon afterwards. ‘We couldn’t leave without it’ they said – so they didn’t.

Intaglio Strati devised and named by Cynth Weyman includes cut and layered art quilts and panels created in fine wool, cottons and luscious Indian silks gathered on her travels. There are several processes and thematic developments. All pieces are made on site by Cynth. Feel free to ask her lots of questions about the technique, the stories behind artworks and perhaps request a demonstration at a Creative Preview.

Commissions are welcomed too, whereby you share your ideas towards the finished piece –£7 per hour plus materials makes artworks affordable to a wider audience. Some bigger artworks can take 2 months to create so will naturally be a little more expensive.

If you wish to buy a secret gift for a special person, you can choose and pay now, then collect nearer Christmas. Cynth offers various payment methods, collector’s instalment systems and a 10% Loyalty Membership discount card for any further purchases. Choosing an artwork because you love it is one thing, and in doing so, you help local artists to develop and flourish. You never know, you may find that a piece by a local artist becomes a good investment for the future. As one man said ‘I should have bought an artwork not an ISA!’.

If you haven’t received a special birthday, Christmas or anniversary gift for a while because you simply couldn’t make up your mind, this is a great little gallery to start searching. Cynth might even be able to make the item for you. You can watch her making it as you pass along her windows in Albion Arcade or drop in and enquire about its progress.

Cynth Weyman’s artworks and own fashion label pieces compliment Blue Street’s neighbouring independent fashion, gift and life style shops, so there is plenty of choice. Information about where to find other individual shops and galleries in the town centre including King Street and Nott Square can also be shared. And if you think your walls or wardrobes are full, Cynth has some simple solutions to make it possible to buy a new piece and keep your older favourites.

Carmarthen’s independent traders pride themselves in offering customers local produce, culture, language and a warm welcome. For a special individually designed artwork or fashion accessory, this little gallery full of colour, form and stories on the high street near Carmarthen bus station is a great place to start your visit. Artworks are created at inspired 2 collect gallery in Blue Street by Welsh speaking artist and designer Cynth Weyman in Wales. Mae Cynth yn siarad Cymraeg hefyd. Croeso i bawb. Everyone Welcome. Open hours are Tuesday to Saturday 10.30am – 5pm.

‘Thanks to everyone for their support in my new venture. Happy winter festivities’.
