Brighton Digital Festival provides a platform for organisations and individuals who are passionate about digital culture, to share exciting innovations and technologies, and to learn from others in the field.

Here is the first part of our four part series looking at highlighted events in the four key areas of this years festival: Innovation and Technology, Arts and Culture, Family Friendly and Community Focussed. With this in mind, here are our innovation and technology event highlights focussing on the theme of ‘What can you learn..?’ at BDF 2014

Improv For Professional Creativity : A Workshop For Digital and IT Professionals

A fun, exciting workshop where you will learn how improv can enhance your professional creativity, productiveness, collaborative ability and design genius. This is a fun hands-on workshop facilitated by Gerry Thompson of Positive Comedy Learning and Development. It’s free, but you need to register.

BAM! Comics ‘n’ Computers

Can traditional media transition into new media? Can in-print promote on-line or vice versa? What is the best digital model for comics? Will digital comics take a new, bold direction or follow in the wake of traditional comics? Who is stronger, Superman or The Hulk? To explore these and many other issues come along to this workshop, which will include a question and answer session.

Surface Impression presents Bambos, who has worked in the comic industry for almost thirty years and co-founded a traditional comic company (Acme Press Ltd) as well as an on-line comic company (Aces Weekly). He has been a publisher, editor, writer, artist, inker, letterer, teacher and student of comics and has worked for both UK and American publishers.

BTN Etsy are a friendly, supportive, location based team of Etsy sellers based in Brighton and East Sussex. The Brighton Sellers’ Team is unique in the UK in that they hold regular meet ups, in Brighton, to share and exchange information to help team members improve their Etsy shops and increase sales. The aim is also to share other related information such as art exhibitions, business talks, suppliers, crafty events and articles of interest.

The aim of our meet ups is to get to know your team mates in person, an invaluable experience for networking, information exchange and support. Our goal is to have a mixture of agenda based and social meets, with a longer term goal to organise educational or selling events with Team Members.
