We Love Brighton in partnership with Tabl.com bring you a monthly round-up of the best pop up restaurants Brighton has to offer!

Ok so as much as we enjoy preparing a lovely, home-cooked meal, we all really know that eating-out is what it’s all about. This is the age of superstar chefs, slick food fashion and chic eats and there’s nothing better than trying out the hottest new dining experience in town before anyone else. From the most accomplished of Michelin-starred gastronomes to the bloke next door who really knows how to host, we’ve been seeing a lot of fabulous one-off dining events that are open to the public popping-up all over the place. In weird and wonderful venues or in fancy abodes – creative and talented people are sharing their skills with adventurous diners all over the place.

Why don’t you try some different dining this Summer, Brighton? How about blind-tasting Asian Grazing and Bloody Mary Tomato Cubes?!

CanTina Pops-Up

Since 2010 CanTina Brighton’s boutique catering service has been offering delicious cookery for parties and events and it’s Tina’s own irrepressible lust-for-life and cheeky enthusiasm as a host that make her the undisputed Queen of alternative dining events in Brighton. It also makes her regular supperclub so very special.

Her love of cooking and her love of people ensure that guests leave raving about the experience.  You’re bound to meet someone new and interesting and what better way than over a shared table? You’ll also be eating some fresh and exciting food – her creativity in cookery never tires and is the perfect focal point to help lead the evening’s interactions.

Invariably sold-out, a real hot-ticket among those in the know, Tina puts regular events on in her Hove home for up to 18 guests at a time. This August she’s on the road (around town!) popping-up in two different fantastically-styled Brighton spaces making for a couple of unique and chic events. Don’t miss out if you get the chance.

Duck Soup

Between running busy pub-kitchens, pop-ups and coming up with his next off-the-wall food event, Local foodie fanatic Ed (ThatChefBloke), spends what little free time he has on the rooftops of Hove, growing marvellous micro-herbs and other fantastic fauna to supply some of the finest eateries in Sussex.

A gifted and quirky chef, the description of his latest event ‘The Duck Soup Project’ begins; “The comfort zone is a desolate place where nothing ever grows…”!

Always keen to bend the rules, Ed presents a blind Asian grazing menu to 30 people that starts with Duck Soup. How it ends up however is anybody’s guess. He’s got upwards of 35 surprising dishes inspired from all over Asia to pick from, but the chef wants to chat to the room and get to know his guests before deciding what’s coming out next.

No question that there’ll be some memorable, fantastic and fascinating dishes served to you throughout the course of the night. The first Duck Soup Project stunned the diners and prompted  rave reviews last month, and now there’s two more in the pipeline for August.

You’ll not leave empty (he promises around 10 plates a head), and being set in one of the most fantastically-designed town-house event spaces in Brighton, the Duck Soup Project is a top-quality and incredible value), fascinating foodies night-out.

Señor Buddha’s Pop-Up Kitchen

One of the exciting things about pop-up restaurants and supper clubs is that they’re a perfect platform for innovation and experimentation. The most exciting food events around Brighton aren’t always created by people with 15 years experience sous-cheffing in Mayfair with the latest Michelin-clad culinary God.

They provide an ideal opportunity for people like Lee at Señor Buddha, who have a real talent and passion for food, to create some sensational experiences.

Lee’s drawn on the styles that have influenced him most to create a sensational menu fusing East Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. The results are incredible to behold – Bloody Mary tomato cubes anyone?!

Popping-up in the Heart of Hove Señor Buddha offers you a choice of several unique Thai-Tapas dishes for just twenty quid. Definitely worth a visit if you’re up for some flavour experimentation.

Location: George Street, Hove

Date & Time: Friday 8th August, 7.15 & 9pm

Price Range: £20
