Job Summary: Functions under the direction of the facilities Risk Manager to coordinate claims administration for WellStar Health System facilities to assure a safe environment for patients, employees and visitors\. Required Minimum Education:College degree or four years of related experience\. Required Minimum Experience:At least two years medical claims experience in the insurance or healthcare industry\. Considerate knowledge of healthcare risk management\. Required Skills:Ability to interface with all levels of the healthcare system and utilize discretion in handling confidential information\.

JOB SUMMARY: a brief description of the job\.

Functions under the supervision of the Director of Risk Management to support the broad vision and mission of Wellstar Health System\. Acts under the Director of Risk Management to accomplish the department’s mission to optimize patient and staff safety and reduce the adverse consequences of accidental loss through protective risk financing, effective loss prevention and successful claims management\. Assists with professional/general liability claims administration for the Wellstar Hospitals, facilities, and employed providers\. Assists in the development of policies and procedures to promote a safe environment for patients, employees and visitors\.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: minimum requirements to be considered qualified to do the job\.

Required Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Current GA licensure as a professional registered nurse\. Licensed Claims Adjuster in the State of Georgia and/or Certified Legal Nurse Consultant preferred\.

Required Minimum Experience: Licensed RN with at least two years clinical experience\. Additionally, two years medical claims experience and/or risk management/quality assurance principles in the healthcare setting\. Working knowledge of the medical/legal process, professional liability insurance, claims administration and insurance program management in healthcare\.

Required Minimum Skills: Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint\. Must be self motivating and capable of effectively communicating with physicians, patients, staff and attorneys\. Ability to interface with all levels of the healthcare system and utilize discretion in handling confidential information\.
