Why I’m an Amazon Prime Member

I’m a happy member of Amazon Prime for a number of reasons:

I’ve made about 15-20 small purchases over the past year where I would’ve had to pay shipping, were it not for my Prime membership.

I use Amazon Instant Video usually once a week. When I was late to discover Downton Abbey, I was able to catch up on all episodes of Seasons 1 & 2 thanks to Prime. I watch a Mystery Science Theater episode about once a week or every other week. About once a week, I also enjoy watching a comedy or documentary.

My kids access Amazon Instant Video frequently from my Kindle. If you are not a fan of the shows on TV these days – or maybe you don’t want your kids watching all those commercials – check out Instant Video. I was elated when my kids discovered Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood!

I sometimes borrow titles on my Kindle. As mentioned above, Prime members get the opportunity to “borrow” select eBook titles. I’ve done this a few times now and it’s been nice to just borrow a book without having to buy it!

I find I’m more likely to take advantage of the hot deals knowing I don’t have to “pad my order” to get free shipping. It’s also nice to pick up an otherwise hard-to-find item in stores (such as this remote control dragonfly I bought my son for Christmas!) knowing I’m paying a good price and saving on gas money, too.

I’d love to hear: What’s your favorite benefit of having a Prime membership?
