June is upon us, and that can only mean one thing in Athens, GA:  the 19th annual AthFest Music and Arts Festival, which will be taking place Friday June 26 - Sunday June 28, 2015.

The main outdoor stage is located at the intersection of Washington & Pulaski Streets, just outside the door of the 40 Watt Club. A second outdoor stage will be located one block away on Hull Street.

The AthFest outdoor lineup, free and open to the public, presented by AthFest Educates as a fundraiser. The non-profit which seeks to advance high-quality music and arts education for local youth and the Athens community through direct support of school and community-based programs and events, including the annual AthFest Music and Arts Festival.

Friday night will also include the first ever Up Next Showcase, with performances by and for young adults, which will be on the KidsFest stage and will feature the following performances: Blue Box, Absent Mind, Benjamin Simpson, Feedback, and DJ Nowa.

Not only will AthFest feature all the bands mentioned on its outdoor stages, but roughly 109 more bands will appear at indoor venues throughout Athens. This portion of AthFest is known as the Club Crawl.

Wristbands can be purchased for $30. These will allow AthFestivalgoers passage into Club Crawl participating venues, as well as discounts at AthFest affiliated events such as LaughFest (the official AthFest comedy showcase), Flagpole Athens Music Awards, Wired Electronic Dance Music Festival & various documentaries at Athens’ art house film theater Ciné.

Wristbands can be purchased at athfesteducates.org/store

They can also be purchased in person in Athens beginning June 1 at the following Athens, GA retailers:

Wuxtry Records at 197 E. Clayton Street, Athens, GA

Low Yo Stuff Records at 261 W. Washington Street, Athens, GA

In addition to the concerts, AthFest Educates also launched an online auction of a Gretsch electric guitar that were signed by all the members of legendary Athens band, Widespread Panic. The fundraising effort aids the organization in giving grants to local educators to advance their art and music related initiatives for Athens area young people in kindergarten through eighth-grade. The bidding is already underway at BiddingOwl.com and will go until the last day of AthFest, June 28th, at noon, when the winner will be announced. Winners need not be present to receive the guitar.
