Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser ($28)
I got this deluxe sampler size bottle of Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser ages back from Sephora - either as a GWP or a point perk, can't remember, but free either way - and promptly forgot all about it until I found it during one of my rare cleaning sprees. This is a detoxifying, pore-cleansing, deep cleaning face wash and ideal for the summers anyway, so I probably did find it at the right time!
There are so many times when I buy a product and there's hardly anything in it that matches what the marketing claims it to be, but with the Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser, there is a lot of it that is true. For starters, it is black - more of a greyish black really, but let's not argue about the shade :P Also on the claims is "warming gel cleanser," and yes, it does warm up on contact with damp skin. It goes back to normal temperature in a second or two, and I suspect the cleanser's effectiveness has more to do with it's other ingredients (see below) than with this warming effect. The cleanser has a faint smell to it - not sure how to describe it, but it's not unpleasant at all - that is very similar to another self-heating product I have tried (Josie Maran Hot Oil Treatment), so I am assuming the smell is a characteristic of whatever the warming ingredient is.
On to the results: This is definitely one of the best face washes I have tried. The black gel cleanser lathers up into an almost white soft foam, more like some of the cream cleansers do, and it does an excellent job of cleaning my skin yet is surprisingly gentle and doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or flaky (a common issue I have had with every gel cleanser I have tried so far). My skin definitely feels and looks clearer and healthier, and while it could just be the combination of products that I am using, I like this cleanser enough to definitely repurchase when I run out of my sample. Oh, and a little goes a long way with this product, so the $28 bottle should last a while.

I have oily-combination skin type, and this works for me, but if you have drier skin, this might seem a bit drying. Also, this product contains glycolic acid and vitamin C, so if you are already using product that contain these or similar drying ingredients, this face wash may leave the skin feeling really dry and flaky and/or be too harsh.

Artichoke Leaf Extract: Improves elasticity to help tighten pore walls.
Charcoal: Draws out excess oil and impurities as it detoxifies.
Glycolic Acid: Helps clarify skin and smooth rough texture.
Vitamin C: Helps brighten skintone and minimize fine lines as it defends from free radical damage.
I recently started trying out a few, very mild glycolic acid based products, and I did not know that Boscia Detoxifying Black had glycolic acid in it - my fault since I didn't bother reading up on the product before using - and my skin felt sooooooooooo dry and flaky, I was in panic mode! Fortunately, I have an Origins mask (10 Minute Mask to Quench Skin's Thirst) that saved the day, but a more sensible option, at least for my sensitive skin, would be to use only one glycolic acid based product at a time.
