From save the dates to table plans, we love nothing more than seeing the unusual DIY wedding stationery that our real brides come up with. Here, we reveal 10 of our favourite ideas to give your wedding stationery a unique twist and help you stay in budget at the same time!

Tasty treats

If you love to bake, then why not treat your guests to some yummy homemade cookies? Ice their name onto the design and you have a cute place name and budget-friendly wedding favour ideas in one – bargain! If this appeals to you, check out more edible favour ideas here.

Map it out

Do you and your husband-to-be love travelling? A vintage map makes the perfect backdrop for a table plan! Simply pin a card for each table to the map and you’re done. This works for other hobbies too – if you’re both bookworms, try pages from your favourite love story, or sheet music if you’re a musical couple.

Save the date

Help your guests prepare for your wedding in style with unusual save the date ideas such as fridge magnets, pens or badges. DIY kits are readily available in craft shops or online so get creative today.

Beachy bargains

If you’re having a beach theme, the perfect DIY wedding stationery idea involves using pebbles or shells as place names. Simply write your guests names on them with a marker pen and there you have it!

Menu mats

One of our talented real brides made fab paper place mats for guests with the menu printed on them! This simple idea allows you to add extra interest to your tables, which is great if you don’t have much budget for other decorations!

Country chic

Country garden themes are the best for trying your hand at some DIY wedding stationery. One of our real brides wrote out her guests’ place names on leaves in gold pen and pinned them to apples. This cost-effective idea will add a pop of colour to your place settings and really give your tables a rustic feel.

Perfect plan

Rather than blowing the budget on a printed table plan why not use a simple chalkboard to illustrate your arrangements? Get some pretty coloured chalk and get to work – in your best handwriting of course!

Get personal

For a personal DIY wedding stationery idea, get out your old photo albums and use a picture of each guest as their place card. This is a lovely way of personalising your day and is a good talking point for guests.

Very vintage

The birdcage has become one of the most popular features of vintage weddings over the past year, being used as table centres, hanging decorations and even on stationery designs. One of our favourite ideas is the use of a wire birdcage memo board to hang table plan cards with pegs.

Say thank you

Say a personal thank you to your guests for their wedding gifts with homemade cards. Get your wedding photographerto snap you holding up a thank you sign, and use the picture on blank cards from a craft shop. Alternatively, if you asked for honeymoon contributions or vouchers, why not write thank you in the sand and use a photo from the honeymoon on the cards?
