Your wedding dress might be the wow factor, but you also need to think about the accessories you choose to wear with it, as the team from Chez Bec explains…
The wrong bridal accessories can make or break a wedding gown so we’ve come up with some top tips to help you get it right. We’re a great believer in being yourself on your wedding day, so don’t wear anything that you think you ‘should’ just for the sake of it. We’ve taken four designer dress styles and scoured the 2014 collections from Chez Bec to navigate you through the best way to accessorise your gown.
The strapless gown
Frankly anything goes with a strapless dress – there is nothing that you can’t wear with it! As a rule we suggest a maximum of two ‘big’ pieces and never next to each other. For example rock a statement headdress but keep your earrings and necklace simple but then have your wrist adorned with some serious bling if you fancy more impact.
For this dress, we would choose a more traditional headpiece, such as our beautiful Lady Mary Tiara (£168) and keep it simple with some jewellery from our Ready-to-wear collection, such as the Ivory elegance set (earrings £24, necklace £28, bracelet £34).
The one-shoulder gown
You don’t want too much going on with a statement one-shoulder gown so we’d avoid muddling the neckline with a pendant or necklace. In fact, the detail on this dress does most of the talking on its own.
We’d accessorise with some subtle earrings like Iris (£38) and go all out with a pretty floral look in the hair. Our Flora headband (£168) would look simply stunning. For the wrist (wear on the opposite wrist to your dress detail) how about the complementary Flora cuff? Beautiful.
The high neck, low back gown
This season is all about the back. The 2014/15 bridal catwalks were full of beautiful back details from keyholes to intricate laces.
For a true backless dress, our Pandora lariat (£55) is our favourite design of all, but for a open backed dress like this we would keep things uber-simple and wear nothing more than a statement pair of earrings such as Marchesa (£48.50).
The Queen Anne neckline
This wedding dress already has some really beautiful detailing on the sash, so you don’t need to go overboard with extra details.
We would go for a pretty pendant necklace like our Viola (£68). This dress is so pretty and regal, that a headpiece is an absolute must, and we’d go with the Amelie headpiece (£168) to make you feel every inch the princess on your day.
