Holiday Gift Guide for Newlyweds and Couples

Last year, I was SO on top of holiday gifts. I kept a google doc of potential gifts for the various people in my life that I knew we wanted to buy for, and every time I either thought of something that they needed or wanted, or heard them mention something that they coveted, I texted myself and then added it to the list when I got home. Once Black Friday rolled around, I was set. It was total bliss.

For whatever reason, I didn’t learn my lesson this year. It’s been an absolutely bananas fall, and that organized list I once had was just a thing of the past. Luckily, where I’ve failed, the hive has picked up my slack! If you have newly married couples close to you, here are a few amazing gifts for newlyweds you can buy (or DIY!) for the new bride and/or groom.

A Keepsake Wedding Invitation

If you search “keepsake wedding invitation” at Etsy, you’ll come up with a bunch of ways to preserve or showcase wedding invitations. It takes a while to cut through the noise to find ideas that are really nice, though. I’ve seen some great wood burned options, but by far my favorite is this Traditional Copper Wedding Invitation Plaque from CopperArtDesigns on Etsy. They take a couple’s invite and etch it into copper, so that you can showcase it forever in your home.

DIY Wedding Invitation-Filled Ornament

Go the DIY route, like Mrs. Campfire did. She had quite a few wedding invitations left so she cut them into strips, curled the strips around a pencil, then gently stuffed them and matching curled ribbon into a glass ornament. Get the DIY tutorial here.

GPS Coordinates Jewelry

I bought this for my sister-in-law last year and it was an absolute hit. AnneCoordinates takes any GPS coordinate you want and engraves it into all kinds of jewelry including rings, bracelets, necklaces, and tie tacks (to name a few). I customized my SIL’s necklace with the coordinates of her wedding venue, then when I gave it to her, I had her look the coordinates up herself (you can just Google it) rather than tell her what it was. When her venue came up, she flipped. It was awesome! (If you know any new moms, this would make a great gift with the coordinates of her new baby’s birthplace, too.)

Custom Pinboard

Once we got married, the Christmas cards we received from family and friends went up tenfold. We wanted to display them proudly (look, ma! We’ve got friends!) and needed a chic place to do it. Minted just introduced Custom Pinboards for just this task, and they are absolutely gorgeous. Not only is it easy to find a style that matches a newlywed’s home decor, but you can also choose from a whole range of sizes that’ll work for their home. You can mix and match fabric/frame types to customize a look that matches your favorite newlyweds’ home.

Monogrammed Leather Clutch

This one makes a great spouse gift! Mrs. Bicycle got a monogrammed leather clutch and a monogrammed baseball hat with my new monogram after she got married and loved both. Mark and Graham carries gorgeous clutches, travel sets, throws, and all kinds of things that you can customize with names, initials, or monograms.

Flatware Organizers

Check their registry: Did they register for nice silverware, but not storage? Almost every wedding registry I’ve purchased from featured beautiful silverware, but nowhere to tuck it all away. Consider getting them something like this Wallace Dark Walnut Single Drawer Chest that gives their new fancy wares a home. Or, if they’re pressed for space, I love these Flatware Place Setting Rolls that each hold a full set of silverware and roll up tightly, so you can quickly pull out the number of sets you need whenever you’re hosting.

Custom Cake Replica Ornament

There are a bunch of clay artists on Etsy that will create mini clay replicas of wedding cakes. CMYKlays does a particularly fantastic job (with over 100 examples of their work). Just send in a photo of the newlyweds’ wedding cake, and they’ll recreate it in clay with a little hook at the top so you can string it up on the Christmas tree.

Initial Earrings

Mrs. Otter suggested  that these Maya Brenner initial earrings are a fun gift for a newlywed bride’s first Christmas. Whether she’s celebrating changing her name, or keeping her maiden name, these earrings are great because they come in singles, so you can mix and match two initials.

Matching Holiday Onesies

Holidays are instantly better when you’re lookin’ fly in matching adult onesies. If your favorite couple has a crazy sense of humor, this is is one of those gifts they’ll love (and maybe they’ll make a tradition out of donning them every Christmas morning). And just think of all the priceless Facebook photos that they’ll get wearing them…

Finish Out Odds ‘n’ Ends on Their Registry

When all else fails, finish out incomplete sets on the wedding registry. If you’ve gotten married, you know how much of a bummer it is to just have one or two more sets of china, flatware, or towels left to purchase.

Happy Black Friday! Got any great gifts for newlyweds to share? Let us know in the comments!
