We are presently seeking highly skilled  Clinicians with great communication, clinical skills and a strong emphasis on excellent customer service to see our increasing, diverse patient population. Areas of need are Pomona, East Los Angeles, El Monte, Bixby, and Whittier.

The Clinician will join the Client Service team and provide quality reproductive health care services including exams, diagnosis, treatment, education, and counseling for clients in accordance with PPLA protocols. The Clinician will also serve as a medical resource for other Licensed and Non-Licensed Staff.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To provide quality patient care including examinations, diagnosis, treatment, education, counseling and serve as a medical resource for other licensed and non-licensed staff in accordance with agency protocols.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Comply at all times with Agency medical protocols, unless Physician consult sought.

Perform physical exams for both males and females with special emphasis on the reproductive system, including breast examination, pelvic examination, male genital exam, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections, Mid-Life Services counseling, examinations and other types of more specialized procedures as indicated by medical policy.

Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic studies as indicated and permitted by affiliate medical protocols.

Maintain PPLA standards of productivity. Minimum 3 table visits per hour.

Recognize and treat minor deviations from the normal, using prescribed protocols and consulting with the Physician as needed.  (Refer as needed).

Act as a medical resource and provide oversight of non-licensed staff.

Label, dispense and prescribe all FDA approved birth control methods including ECP.

Insertion/removal of IUC and implants.

Provide medication abortion services and ultrasound to estimate length of pregnancy according to written protocols.

Follow up on abortion clients including confirmatory ultrasounds, Beta HCG.  Complete and maintain RH/ Beta log manuals.

On-call duties.

Post Abortion Exams: Perform examination and assessment of post abortion clients including pelvic exams and labs when needed. (Consult MD when needed).

Phlebotomy: Perform venipuncture for RPR, HIV and other blood work as needed.

Give injections.

Proficient in Microscopy.

The following are responsibilities of Planned Parenthood clinicians as outlined in the Medical Standards and Guidelines:

Secures a complete health history, including gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, sexual, family health, and psychosocial; performs a general screening physical examination; obtains and/or interprets appropriate diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests.

Provide family planning, nutrition, and sexual counseling and principles of health promotion and maintenance.

Collaborate with other community agencies in providing comprehensive care.

Provide appropriate management for women and men in need of reproductive related services, including fertility control, infertility, and sexually transmitted diseases.

Obtains history and conducts pre-abortion assessment.

Serve as a resource for medical and surgical abortion services.

Conducts post abortion follow-up examination with recognition of normal and abnormal findings and refers or collaborates with physician as appropriate.

Interprets scientific studies based on knowledge of basic research principles.

Works to insure understanding and acceptance, by colleagues, other professionals, consumers, and the community at large of the role of the Clinician.

Recognizes ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing care to women/men throughout the life cycle.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT:

Perform Quality Management audits, if requested.

Adhere to Quality Management policies and procedures.

Notify the Quality Manager, Supervisor, and/or Center Manager if deficiencies are found.

SAFETY/RISK MANAGEMENT:

Adhere to Safety/Risk Management policies and procedures.

Notify the Supervisor/Center Manager if deficiencies are found.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Regional Clinician Lead, Center Manager and/or Medical Director.
