New Years Eve Gold Coast Events

You either love it or hate it, but New Year’s Eve is the one time of year that people from all walks of life farewell their year and welcome the next one. Often there’s a lot of pressure for it to be a fabulous night of frivolity and while that’s often the case, it’s not always.

In saying that, the Gold Coast knows how to throw an incredible assortment of parties, so if clubbing or shows aren’t your thing, then maybe a dinner with friends or a boat cruise is. Regardless of what you get up to, you’re bound to need a bit of New Year’s Eve trivia somewhere along the night, so here is it!

In Italy people wear red underwear on New Year’s Day to bring good luck all year round.

The traditional New Year’s song Auld Lang Syne means ‘times gone by’.

It’s considered by some to be good luck to eat foods like black eyed peas, ham and cabbage because it is thought they bring prosperity.

To have a happy new year don’t eat lobster or chicken because lobsters can move backward and chickens can scratch in reverse, it’s thought these foods could bring a reversal of fortune.

The common belief behind lighting up fireworks in some countries on New Year’s Day is that it not only illuminates the sky but also dispels bad spirits and unpleasant memories of the past.

Celebrate the start of 2016 at one of these Gold Coast New Year’s Eve Events!
