FutureGov is looking to recruit a Community Host to help deliver our new Public Services Incubator, which is part of the Hub Launchpad.

About the Public Services Incubator

The Public Services Incubator is all about finding people, particularly those working on the frontline, with great ideas about how to transform public services and supporting them and their ideas to make change happen – whether through internal change initiatives or the creation of new social ventures.

Role of the Community Host

Creating a community around the Incubator will be fundamental to its success, and will depend on your skills and dedication.

You are a confident individual with the vision, energy, personality and skills required to work on this exciting programme, bringing your own distinctive offer in supporting the delivery of a successful Incubator. You will help build a strong community of potential startup founders and change makers from the public sector and make this community feel at home, challenged, connected, and inspired.

The person we’re looking for will be a natural host and connector, with a talent and flair in bringing people together. You will hold some knowledge about the startup world and / or the world of public services and passionate about how new ideas can transform the lives of vulnerable people and other service users. You will have a strong value base, including of openness, flexibility, respect and trust. You will use your skills and personality to help recruit participants the programme and, once recruited, keep them engaged and excited.

Responsibilities of the Community Host

- Be part of a small team supporting and maintaining contact the participants for the Public Services Innovation Incubator, both formally and informally

- Raise awareness about the project amongst potentially interested participants or partners

- Help lead the hosting and delivery of a wide range of events and learning activities on a weekly basis

- Encourage and enable peer-to-peer discussion and learning across the cohort of participant

- Facilitating workshops where participants will learn the skills needed to be successful social entrepreneurs

- Connect the participants to relevant outside resources

- Undertake ongoing monitoring and evaluation tasks

- Enable the formation of entrepreneurial teams by bringing the right people together.

The Community Host will need to be

- A good communicator with excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

- Sensitive to the needs and aspirations of a wide range of entrepreneurs

- Experienced in delivering successful events
- Confident in facilitating groups, workshops or classes 

- Interested in the public services, the startup world, social enterprise and technology sectors

- Adaptable, capable, and able to respond to new circumstances and challenges

- A self-starter, with strong organisational skills, capable of working on their own initiative

- A team worker and able to build relationships across a wide range of organisations and partners

- A keen user of social media, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and blogging tools

- Able to use social media and blogging tools for marketing purposes

- Able to use a range of marketing tools; Eventbrite, Mailchimp, Google analytics as well as data collection tools

- Familiar with collaboration tools such as GoogleDocs, Gmail, Dropbox, Skype

Terms of Appointment

- 7 months full-time, from mid September / 1 month probationary period

- Salary: around £25,000 to £35,000 pa depending on experience

- The role will involve regular evening and occasional weekend work

- Mostly based in London with some travel in and around the south-east (some wider UK possible)
