First released in 2008, Vinylmations have experienced a roller coaster ride of popularity. While they may have already peaked, they have now found themselves a permanent staple in Disney fans’ hearts as high quality collectibles.

Made out of vinyl, hence the name Vinlymation, the 3 inch figures sport designs covering almost every Disney topic. Muppets, Marvel, and Star Wars are just a few of the franchises that have been given the Vinylmation treatment. For the most part they use a mickey shaped figure as the canvas, however series such as Park Starz have subverted the formula.

The one frustrating element of collecting these is their blind box releases. Since you never know what you will get, you might not always get what you like. This is particularly frustrating when trying to complete a collection, or not wanting to spend $13 on a design you don’t care for.

No Disney park element is off limits. Many are based off of attractions that no longer exist. Various releases centered around extinct-Epcot have covered Horizons, Kitchen Kabaret, and even the much maligned Spaceship Earth wand (pictured left).

Is there any Walt Disney World subject you would like to see covered in a Vinylmation figure? Leave a comment and let me know!

Zack Kaplan likes collecting all sorts of figures, though Vinylmations are near the top of his list as his favorite. You can find him on twitter @SteelDiver to see what other crazy antics he is up to.
