Hello guys! Welcome to another week of “My Top Ten Disney” where I will be telling you my top ten favorite Disney-related things! In past weeks, we went over Under- Appreciated Disney Characters  and Disney Christmas Shopping. But I’ve been in the Halloween spirit for the past few weeks now, (it’s my favorite time of year) so today I am going to be talking about my favorite Disney Halloween movies and shorts. I’m very excited so lets get started!

________________________________________________________________________

10. Ghoul Friend (2013)

Ghoul Friend  came out last year on the Disney Channel during Monstober weekend. I love the style of animation in this short!  This is sure to put a smile on your face, so click here to watch it!

9.The Haunted Mansion (2003)

The Haunted Mansion is about real estate agent Jim Evers (Eddie Murphy), who promises his family he’ll take them on a family vacation. On the way, he finds a mansion that he wants to sell, telling his family it won’t be long. Due to a horrible storm, they have to stay there over night and The Evers find the haunted spirits and secrets of The Haunted Mansion! Anything Eddie Murphy is in is great, plus  it includes the plot line of  my favorite  attraction.   This funny-spooky movie has to be mentioned on this list!

8. A Silly Symphony- The Skeleton Dance (1929)

Skeleton Dance is a black and white short about 4 skeletons that dance and use each other as instruments! This five-minute long video was the first of the Silly Symphony series. This is so fun to watch and is nothing short of amazing! It really is a shame that they don’t make things like this anymore.

7.Lonesome Ghosts (1937)

The Ajax Ghost Exterminators (Mickey, Donald and Goofy) get a call to come to an old abandoned house and get rid of some old spirits. Unaware that it was the ghosts themselves that called them over, the three of them go to the house. During this 9-minute short the lonesome ghosts make a pretty big fool out of the gang, it’s a must watch during this time of  year!

6. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Honestly, who doesn’t like this movie? It incorporates everyone’s two favorite holidays – Halloween and Christmas! For those of you who haven’t seen it here’s the basic idea: Jack the Pumpkin King, a skeleton from Halloweentown, is tired of the same old thing.  But one day he finds a door… he opens it and finds a world full of snow, joy and  gifts… Christmas! Determined to bring it to Halloweentown, he tries to become the new “Sandy Claws”!  The Nightmare Before Christmas is a stop-motion animated musical and you’ve probably never seen anything like it before!  It’s a huge plus that I get to watch it during both holiday seasons!

5. Trick or Treat (1952)

Huey, Dewey, and Louie are trick or treating on Halloween night when Donald decides to give them a trick instead! A Little old witch named Witch Hazel sees what he did to them and says she’ll help get him back! My family and I have this short on repeat every Halloween season! Here’s the link so you can enjoy it too!

4. Halloweentown (1998)

Marnie Cromwell isn’t allowed to celebrate Halloween… but she loves it so much! On one Halloween night, Marnie’s grandma (Debbie Reynolds) makes a surprise visit and brings over costumes, candy and basically an entire Halloween party to the house! Her whole family (except Marnie’s mom) have the best night ever! Before bed Grandma tells them a story about a place called Halloweentown and Marnie feels like something suspicious is going on. She goes downstairs to ease-drop on her Mom and Grandma. While listening, she finds out that her whole family are MAGIC! Wanting to learn more she follows her grandma home on a weird bus to her home in Halloweentown with her brother and sister. Together they must figure out why people keep going missing in Halloweentown. This movie makes you want to be a witch! It’s so original and actually had 3 more sequels. This is one that I can re-watch and re-watch.

3. Girl VS Monster (2012)

Girl VS Monster is about a fearless girl named Skylar (Olivia Holt). She is sick of her parents locking her in the house every October 31st, especially since her friend Ryan asked her to a party on Halloween night. But it’s kind of for her own good… little does she know, her parents are monster hunters! While trying to get out of the house, she accidentally releases all the monsters they’ve been collecting, INCLUDING the BIG THREE… This is probably the best movie Disney Channel ever released!  Yes, The Disney Channel has recently put out something amazing. I LOVE THIS MOVIE! I have it recorded on my  DVR and watch it all the time. (Please Disney, can you release it on DVD? Not everyone wants to digitally download something. )

2. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1949)

I talk about this movie a lot… on this blog and just in life! Based on the book by Washington Irving, this takes you through the story of the new schoolmaster of  Sleepy Hollow named Ichabod Crane. On his journey he finds food, love, rivalry and … The Headless Horseman! If you’ve never seen this movie, then you MUST go watch it immediately after you read this.

1.  Hocus Pocus  (1993)

Max Dennison cannot get used to his new hometown- Salem, Massachusetts- and doesn’t understand why everyone is obsessed with Halloween… especially the Legend of the Sanderson Sisters. When a innocent lights the black flame candle, the sisters will resurrect from the dead!  When trying to impress a girl on Halloween night, Max lights the candle and the sisters come back! This is my favorite Halloween movie period- it’s genius! I really don’t do it justice talking about it… If you’ve never seen it it’s really cool and I highly suggest you to watch it!

Honorable Mentions

As Lou Mongello and Tim Foster would say – it’s never just ten; there are always honorable mentions! Let’ see who or what else deserves some recognition.

1. My Babysitter’s A Vampire (2010)

Well, the title is kinda self explanatory! Ethan and his best friend Benny, find out his babysitter, Sarah, is a vampire fledgling. She was bit by her ex-boyfriend Jesse and (with the help of  Benny and Ethan) has to figure out and stop what he’s up to. Soon after the movie premiered the TV series started and The Disney Channel started airing it (Both originally aired in Canada). I LOVE the movie and maybe the show a little more! It’s just something very different and it’s fun to watch with the family too!

2. Toy Story of  Terror (2013)

Woody and the gang stay the night at a motel but slowly each of them keep mysteriously disappearing! Together they must escape before they all are missing! It’s great because it feels like another Toy Story movie (This one is 2o minutes). This recently came out on DVD!

_________________________________________________________________________

Well that’s my list! Most of the things on my list can be watched during ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween or Disney Channel’s Monstober! But before I go let me ask you some questions!

So do you agree with my list? What’s your favorite Halloween Disney short or movie? Did I forget to mention any ones on your list? Want to hear me go over a certain topic in this segment next time? Tell me all your thoughts in the comment section below, I’d love to her from you!
