Walt Disney World is a 10-11 hour drive from our home in Tennessee.  When a long weekend presents itself traveling to Disney isn’t always an option.  So we found a little bit of Disney in South Carolina at Disney Vacation Club’s Hilton Head Resort.

This Disney Vacation Club resort is only 6 hours from our home and we had never visited Hilton Head Island before.  This is a beautiful resort with a large marina in the front of the resort with some very large and expensive boats.  The back side of the resort was marsh land and truly authentic low country South Carolina.  This resort is not on the beach.  No problem, Disney has a beach house on the beach with a pool and provides van transportation or you can make the very short 2-3 minute drive in your car.

Even though the resort is not on the beach, we found so many activities to do and the cast members were awesome.  My son enjoyed fishing and crabbing from the pier that stretched out into the marsh.  My daughter has so much fun making a tie-dyed t-shirt and shell necklace.  Both very much enjoyed playing in the swimming pool and hot tub.  True to Disney, movies were shown each night outside next to the marsh area called Shadow Point which our whole family enjoyed.

The Hilton Head Island Resort was a wonderful place to visit and provided the Disney magic that you would expect.  The Disney Vacation Club also has resorts at Vero Beach, Florida, the Aulani Resort in Hawaii and a growing number of resorts at Walt Disney World.
