SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The man who was fatally shot in San Francisco Saturday night has been identified by authorities.

According to the San Francisco police, 20-year-old Calvin Riley was fatally shot at the Aquatic Park near Ghiradelli Square around 9:51 p.m., while he was playing Pokemon Go.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Riley suffering from a gunshot wound in the torso. First aid was provided but Riley eventually succumbed to his injuries.

According to family members, Riley was playing the game when someone came up and shot him and ran away.

Police are currently investigating and asking for witnesses to come forward, and are calling this a “random act of violence.”

Police have made no arrest.

Riley a resident of San Mateo, was a baseball player at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, and Junipero Serra high school in San Mateo.

Delta College baseball coach, Reed Peters expressed sadness to KRON4 News on the tragic incident.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our delta baseball family, Calvin Riley. Calvin was loved by all those that knew him. He was a great person from a great family. A 20 year old with his best years ahead of him. He was a huge part of our team reaching the 2016 final four. He was a fun loving teammate that players loved to be around. Once he took the mound he was all business. He possessed a great arm, great curveball, and a bulldog mentality that you loved to have with the game on the line.  He brought the best out in all of us. He will be truly missed but never forgotten. RIP 27″ — Reed Peters

School officials from Junipero Serra high school have spoke out about Riley and have expressed their condolences in statement made on Facebook, Sunday evening.

Our Serra community just received the tragic news of the death of recent Serra graduate Calvin Riley ’15. Calvin was shot and killed last night near San Francisco’s Ghirardelli Square. Our hearts and prayers are with the Riley family today.”
